Values Human Beings Give to Goods and Services, and the Economy of Communion

Abstract

Resumo O objectivo deste artigo é o de propor uma tipologia dos valores que os seres humanos dão a bens e serviços, e usar essa tipologia para representar o projecto da Economia de Comunhão, como um esforço organizado para fazer com que as empresas que operam numa economia de mercado possam ir além dos tipos de valores promovidos nessa economia. Os outros valores que a economia de mercado tem mais dificuldade em promover serão designados, neste artigo, por “valores simbólicos de troca” , “valores identitários” e “valores sagrados” . Dado que a economia de mercado não tende a promover esses tipos de valores, um esforço organizado tem de ser feito, para que eles possam prosperar em contextos onde prevalecem os mercados. A Economia de Comunhão é representada aqui como um esforço organizado deste tipo. Palavras-chave : Economia de Comunhão, valores de troca, valores identitários, valores sagrados, valores simbólicos de trocaThe purpose of this paper is to propose a typology of the values that human beings give to goods and services and use this typology to represent the project of the Economy of Communion as an organized effort to make firms operating in a market economy to go beyond the types of values promoted in this kind of economy. The other values which the market economy has more difficulty to promote are what is called in the paper the “symbolic exchange values” , “identitary values” and “sacred values” . It is because the market economy doesn’t tend to promote these types of values that an organized effort has to be made so that they can flourish in contexts where markets prevail.
