Abstract

This work presents a theory intended to answer the question: What is the nature of value, or alternatively, under what conditions is it true that a thing is good objectively and without qualification? An account is developed and then applied to solve various traditional problems of meta-ethics. The account is also integrated with certain results in semantic theory, in particular, relating to the semantic analysis of the word 'good' in English
