Abstract

The arguments of modern biology influence the development of a scientific world outlook in favour of the material unity of the organic world and the material unity of the universe as a whole. In this the most significant role is played by molecular biology and genetics, as orienting the system of biological sciences towards a search for stable, invariant characteristics of life. Meanwhile the concept of development remains the key one in biology, and the contemporary theory of evolution, based on the synthesis of the systemic-structural and the historical approaches, emerges as an important factor in enriching the dialectical-materialistic outlook.
