Abstract

ABSTRACT The article discusses the possibility of understanding the sensible presence of the world and attempts an existential characterization of the sensible qualities according to which it appears, from the perspective of Heidegger's analyses of human existence or Dasein. Despite the occasional references to that issue in Heidegger's thought, the paper states that factual relation between existence and the immediate entity is based on Dasein's being concerned. It analyzes the role of sensible qualities as an exhortation to establish factual dealings with entities that allow Dasein to engage with that which surrounds it, bearing in mind that the entity-within-the world is such only within a context of reference. The article also suggests that, in existential terms, the problem of the sensible can be described on the basis of Dasein's way of being as exhorted by the things among which he lives.
