Abstract

This article deals with one of the fundamental modals with the Gothic movement: the Decadentism. The investigation of your historical bases provides interesting tracks to us on the Gothic culture. Thus, we can verify that the Gothic identity is not a mode, but, behind your typical aesthetics with dark clothes and dark tastes, there is a set of literary, artistic and philosophical influences. Among the above mentioned, Nietzsche's figure turns out to be central to understand the essence of the Gothic culture.
