Abstract

Alter the fall of Berlin Wall in 1989, together with the fall of Socialism, the left wing is to rethink its political role in the present and the future, as the failure of the iron curtain featured the end of the major theoretical ways in politics. This article, based on Richard Rorty’s thesis –the American philosopher- is intended to point out some of the possible actions to be taken by the left. Firstly, the left must act by means of the small experimental ways, this implies small projects intended to combat the “avoidable human misery” but no aiming at the change of the whole capitalist background and its substitution by another meta-speech which could, for example, be based on history. Secondly, the left must reactivate its political creativity in order to invent, as indicated by Rorty, another political metaphor, another form of social organization that meets the lacks of the current one without looking at scatological or metaphysical theories. Finally, the left must go on with its critical work, avoiding a political excess that lead to the increase of suffering and human misery. Also, this article provides an example of a small experimental way.
