Abstract

This article in which I examine the mystical themes in Plato’s works has as its aim the exposition and clarification of Plato’s affinity with the mystical tradition that has been mostly ignored in the history of philosophy. According to this uncommon reading, Plato does not only clearly express his interest in the mystical thinking but also explains and stresses the role of the mystical intuition in the quest to attain the Beautiful and the Good; this however going unnoticed. I believe that one can only realize this aspect of the Platonic teaching when one approaches it from within the mystical intuition
