Religius experience in the coordinates of everidey life: from the feeling of the supernatural to the embodiment of tradition

Abstract

In the article religious experience is interpreted in the coordinates of everyday life. The interpretation features of religious experience are examined through the prism of belonging individual to the certain religious community. Religious tradition is analysed as a constituent of everyday life its transmitters and mechanism of translation religious experience. Accumulating a faith, dogmas, institutes, practices, religious experience appears as fundamental basis of religion. The transition from everyday life to religious and vice versa, accompanied by difficulties that are overcome with religious traditions that are related to the structures of everyday life. If religious experience is the experience of the bordering state, then the traditions and institutions applying for a long term embodiment of its authentic content, wholly belong to everyday life. In case of large divergences between social reality and religious experience, tradition functions isolated in relation to meaning of primary experience. At the same time tradition constantly appeals to religious experience as source of own sacral authority. Religious tradition combines present time with the past, carries out an accumulation, selection, stereotyping of religious experience, forms an institutional structure that provides social control and translation of meaning of religious experience. Regulating religious experience, tradition prevents the invasion of the supernatural reality in everyday life.
