    I consider in this essay three possible interpretations of the infinitely rich story of Abraham and Isaac found in Genesis 22. Against the background of what I call "the traditional reading," I compare the views of William Blake, Johannes de Silentio, and Søren Kierkegaard.     In "From Metaphysics to Ethics", Frank Jackson presents an impressively systematic conception of modal reality and its relation to our thought. His account of ethics is a test case for this conception. I will argue that Jackson's reasoning for his conclusions about ethics is unsound.
