Amongst the Arendtian scholars, there is almost a consensus on Arendt’s supposedly reluctance to the question of the body. The Arendtian body is said to belong to the unpolitical realm of necessity, in other words, the body is a private matter that should not appear in public. It is antipolitical. However, in this paper, I want to suggest that there is a possibility to outline a phenomenology of embodied political action in what I think to be Arendt’s hidden phenomenology of (...) the body. To make my point, I will first show that what the scholars call the Arendtian body is in fact an Arendtian Body. Secondly, in the German version of The Human Condition, Arendt surprisingly used the Heideggerian term Befindlichkeit that, I will argue, outline the basis of a political phenomenology of the body in Arendt’s work. More precisely, I will try to show that political action is embodied, that there is a hexis, a pathos and an ethos of action. (shrink)

This article offers to outline a direction for a decolonial political theory based on Aimé Césaire’s and Frantz Fanon’s thoughts. In doing so, I will first discuss some work of comparative political theory that could be associated with an attempt to decolonize political theory. Rather than a systematic critique of these works, this article aims to outline some of their limits from a decolonial perspective, such as their embedment in a continental ontology/logic, and their over-emphasis on methodology that can lead (...) to an instrumental account of politics. In contrast, I will argue for a decolonial existential political theory that grounds its investigation in what Frantz Fanon called ‘the zone of nonbeing’ and that takes politics as first philosophy. To make my point, I will discuss Aimé Césaire’s Letter to Maurice Thorez and Frantz Fanon’s Political Theory of the Damnés. (shrink)

Resumo: Este artigo pretende tratar da relação entre inovação e conservação, assinalando principalmente as linhas de conflito que atravessam esses dois fenômenos. O texto tem por base teórica algumas ideias postuladas por Charles Perrault, propondo uma leitura filosófica que evoca Agamben, Borges e Nietzsche. Ademais, o texto discute as noções de presente e passado, memória e esquecimento, criação e preservação. Desses antagonismos emerge a problemática do cuidado com os tempos, um traço descritivo tanto do espírito inovador quanto do conservador.

La différance comme déconstruction de la violence examine "la différance", une singularité de Jacques Derrida. L'auteur est profondément fidèle à l'esprit derridien en réaffirmant que la différance n'est ni un mot ni un concept mais un jeu littéraire qui porte des traces philosophiques et qui exige également des lecteurs de respecter le pouvoir du silence textuel. Même si la différance interroge la violence sous diverses formes, elle attirera principalement notre attention sur la violence "inaudible" de toutes nos structures. Le présent (...) ouvrage interroge sur le jeu de la différance. Avec la différance, Derrida nous invite à nous asseoir devant un silence absolu du texte, devant une impossibilité. Ainsi, les déconstructeurs sont appelés à jouer une possibilité de l'impossibilité. La question cosmopolitique est restée en marge de l'intérêt qui a été porté à la pensée juridico-politique de Kant. Mais l'intérêt philosophique de la question cosmopolitique dépasse très largement ce cadre. Elle atteste d'abord que la théorie politique de Kant ne se limite pas une théorie de l'Etat. Il doit y avoir un en deçà et un au-delà de l'Etat, où la politique dépasse l'idée de peuple pour atteindre celle d'humanité. En ce sens, Kant est l'antidote de Carl Schmitt, qui (...) portait en lui la haine de l'idée cosmopolitique. Cet antagonisme théorique entre Schmitt et Kant, entre le poison et le remède, est largement attesté dans ce volume. Ce qui montre à quel point nous avons besoin aujourd'hui du cosmopolitisme de Kant, pour penser le passage de la guerre à la paix, la place de l'hôte étranger dans nos sociétés complexes et la nouvelle configuration d'un monde globalisé. L'Essai sur le goût dans les choses de la nature et de l'art de Montesquieu forme une partie de l'article "Goût", paru dans le tome VII de l'Encyclopédie en 1757 de façon posthume et à l'état inachevé. Cet article est lui-même composé d'un article dû à Voltaire, puis du "fragment sur le (...) goût" de Montesquieu, comme l'appellent Diderot et d'Alembert.
