Der Dialog bei Ramon Llull: literarische Gestaltung als apologetische Strategie.Roger Friedlein - 2004 - Tübingen: M. Niemeyer. Edited by Ramon Llull.

  9. Quantum Dialogue: The Making of a Revolution.Mara Beller - 1999 - University of Chicago Press.
"Science is rooted in conversations," wrote Werner Heisenberg, one of the twentieth century's great physicists. In Quantum Dialogue, Mara Beller shows that science is rooted not just in conversation but in disagreement, doubt, and uncertainty. She argues that it is precisely this culture of dialogue and controversy within the scientific community that fuels creativity. Beller draws her argument from her radical new reading of the history of the quantum revolution, especially the development of the Copenhagen interpretation. One of (...)

Dialog “buddhism – western philosophy” as the reality game: An interview with dr. Jan Westerhoff.Olena Kalantarova - 2024 - Filosofska Dumka (Philosophical Thought) 1:122-134.
No one is surprised anymore by the dialogue between Buddhism and Western science, which develops the foundations of cognitive and contemplative sciences. But there have been requests for reflection on the results achieved, or even for a strategy for analytical research of the Buddhist East, which brings this dialogue to the philosophical level. And this level of discussion is, in fact, the dialogue between Buddhism and Western philosophy, which requires a new discourse that should be built on (...)

A dialog set within a tower of faith above a city of power: Merian validus.Edward H. Sisson - unknown
The Washington National Cathedral, set on the highest hill in the capital city of the world's greatest economic and military power, is an iconic location for an examination of the intersection of immaterial faith, material power, and human conscious experience. It is a location made even more symbolic due to the fact that surrounding the Cathedral on three sides are three private schools -- an elementary school (Beauvoir) to the east, a boys' school (St. Albans) to the south, and a (...)

Critical Data Studies: A dialog on data and space.Jim Thatcher, Linnet Taylor & Craig M. Dalton - 2016 - Big Data and Society 3 (1).
In light of recent technological innovations and discourses around data and algorithmic analytics, scholars of many stripes are attempting to develop critical agendas and responses to these developments. In this mutual interview, three scholars discuss the stakes, ideas, responsibilities, and possibilities of critical data studies. The resulting dialog seeks to explore what kinds of critical approaches to these topics, in theory and practice, could open and make available such approaches to a broader audience.

  15. Figures of dialogue: a view from Ludics.Alain Lecomte & Myriam Quatrini - 2011 - Synthese 183 (S1):59-85.
In this paper, we study dialogue as a game, but not only in the sense in which there would exist winning strategies and a priori rules. Dialogue is not governed by game rules like for chess or other games, since even if we start from a priori rules, it is always possible to play with them, provided that some invariant properties are preserved. An important discovery of Ludics is that such properties may be expressed in geometrical terms. The (...)

Dialog as interpersonal synergy.Riccardo Fusaroli, Joanna Raczaszek-Leonardi & Kristian Tylén - 2013 - New Ideas in Psychology.
What is the proper unit of analysis in the psycholinguistics of dialog? While classical approaches are largely based on models of individual linguistic processing, recent advances stress the social coordinative nature of dialog. In the influential interactive alignment model, dialogue is thus approached as the progressive entrainment of interlocutors' linguistic behaviors toward the alignment of situation models. Still, the driving mechanisms are attributed to individual cognition in the form of automatic structural priming. Challenging these ideas, we outline a dynamical (...)

What is effective classroom dialog? A comparative study of classroom dialog in Chinese expert and novice mathematics teachers’ classrooms.Wenjun Zhao, Jing Ma & Yiming Cao - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13:964967.
Conducting effective classroom dialog is an important foundation for high-quality classrooms. This study investigates the characteristics of effective classroom dialog from the perspective of Chinese mathematics classrooms. Classroom videotapes from 40 expert and 33 novice teachers were selected from a national project and analyzed through a developed coding framework. Results showed that the dominant types of dialog in expert teachers’ classrooms were related to Basic Knowledge, Construction, Analysis, and Personal Information. Compared to novice teachers, expert teachers’ classrooms have a significantly (...)

Dialog und Verstehen. Klassische und moderne Perspektiven.Gregor Damschen & Alejandro G. Vigo (eds.) - 2015 - Berlin: Lit.
Thinking is a kind of dialogue ─ according to Plato thinking is a silent and inner conversation of the soul with itself. Understanding presupposes thinking. Therefore, understanding presupposes a kind of dialogue. From this conclusion arises not only the question of what dialogue and understanding are in essence, but also the question of the connection between dialogue and understanding. This volume explores these two question complexes in both a philosophical-historical and a systematic manner and presents possible (...)

    Konflikt, dialog i dobrodziejstwa rozumu.Magdalena Środa - 1999 - Etyka 32:129-134.
The article is based on the assertion that conflict constitutes an important element of social reality both in its moral and political aspect. The conflicts of: Antigone and Creon, Socrates and Athens, Christ and the Pharisees, Gandhi and the British, M.L. King and the racists, have clearly contributed to moral development. Conflicts arise from the human need of using one’s freedom in questioning the existing order, in distrusting every truth. It is not the fact of the existence of conflicts that (...)

From dialogue rights to property rights: Foundations for Hayek's legal theory.Jeremy Shearmur - 1990 - Critical Review: A Journal of Politics and Society 4 (1-2):106-132.
Hayek's philosophy of law has Kantian features, but he offers indirect utilitarian arguments for them. Hayek's argument might be strengthened by considering that the utilitarian has an interest in issues of truth and falsity and thus in the individual as the bearer of critical judgments. Individuals might thus be accorded?dialogue rights?; upon a episte?mological basis, an idea which is further strengthened by the consideration that dialogue may be extended to the appraisal of the validity of utilitarianism. Moreover, such (...)

    Medicine and dialogue.Richard M. Zaner - 1990 - Journal of Medicine and Philosophy 15 (3):303-325.
Physicians have for some time been questioning the prevailing view of medicine as applied biology. It is urged that medicine needs to be reconceived so as to provide appropriate emphasis on the patient's experience and understanding of illness. After reviewing these arguments and the scientific paradigm underlying the received view in light of certain themes in medicine's history and of current thinking, Pellegrino's thesis is analyzed: medicine should be understood as an inherently moral enterprise, a form of praxis focused on (...)

Undarstellbares im Dialog: Facetten einer deutsch-französischen Auseinandersetzung.Thomas Bedorf (ed.) - 1997 - Rodopi.

The current dialogue between phenomenology and psychiatry: a problematic misunderstanding.Camille Abettan - 2015 - Medicine, Health Care and Philosophy 18 (4):533-540.
A revival of the dialogue between phenomenology and psychiatry currently takes place in the best international journals of psychiatry. In this article, we analyse this revival and the role given to phenomenology in this context. Although this dialogue seems at first sight interesting, we show that it is problematic. It leads indeed to use phenomenology in a special way, transforming it into a discipline dealing with empirical facts, so that what is called “phenomenology” has finally nothing to do (...)

In this paper we describe a method for the specification of computationalmodels of argument using dialogue games. The method, which consists ofsupplying a set of semantic definitions for the performatives making upthe game, together with a state transition diagram, is described in full. Its use is illustrated by some examples of varying complexity, includingtwo complete specifications of particular dialogue games, Mackenzie's DC,and the authors' own TDG. The latter is also illustrated by a fully workedexample illustrating all the features of (...)

Dialog und Dialektik. Zur Struktur des platonischen Dialogs. [REVIEW]S. L. - 1973 - Review of Metaphysics 27 (2):387-388.
Today everyone knows that Tübingen is the center of the current tendency to find Plato’s genuine philosophy not in his dialogues but in Aristotle’s reports of his "unwritten doctrines" because of the publications of H. J. Krämer and K. Gaiser, both of whom studied and now teach at the University of Tübingen. That fact was not yet evident in March, 1958, when Hermann Gundert went there to deliver a lecture on "Der Platonische Dialog," in which he stated almost the exact (...)
