Expansion, Compilation, Abbreviation: Some Thoughts on the Construction of Buddhist Texts.Richard Salomon - 2022 - Journal of Indian Philosophy 50 (4):501-521.
Studies of the form and textual history of various Buddhist texts show that they tend to undergo three types of developmental processes. First, some texts, especially verse compilations, are expanded by the insertion of pattern variants, sometimes at great length. Second, shorter texts such as sūtras are prone to be absorbed into larger compilations and thus lose their status as independent texts. Third, voluminous texts sometimes come to be represented in manuscripts in abbreviated forms, for example containing only the first (...)

    The New Critical Edition of Hegel's Complete Works.Richard Kroner - 1956 - Review of Metaphysics 10 (2):350 - 354.
This "New Critical Edition" of Hegel's writings fulfills all requirements of scholarly precision and completeness, in contrast to the so-called "Complete Edition" of Hegel's works, compiled by "an association of friends of the deceased" soon after the death of the great thinker, which was neither complete nor critical at all. In fact, the best authorities are unanimous in their agreement that this new edition is now the only one which should be used for scholarly purposes. There is also the (...)

An Updated Bibliography of Works on the Philosophy of Thomas Reid.Richard A. Legum - 1978 - The Monist 61 (2):340-344.
Although Thomas Reid has had a strong influence on contemporary thought, his philosophical writings have been to a large extent ignored. Recently, however, there has been a birth of interest in Reid’s philosophy. In order to facilitate Reid scholarship, a bibliography of works by and on Reid, compiled by Nina Mikhalevsky, was published in the third issue of Philosophical Monographs. The title of this issue is Thomas Reid: Critical Interpretations. The following bibliography has been compiled to complete and (...)

Richard Kirwan, J. H. De Magellan, and the Early History of Specific Heat.E. L. Scott - 1981 - Annals of Science 38 (2):141-153.
In the spring of 1780 there appeared a short work by J. H. de Magellan, published in London but written in French, which contained the first table of specific heats to appear in print. Magellan attributed the table to Richard Kirwan, but in none of his published works does Kirwan refer to it, so that the circumstances of its compilation are obscure. Kirwan's correspondence, however, provides evidence both of his association with Magellan and of his long concern with theories (...)

  8. Foreword by Richard Adler.Richard Adler - 2017 - In Andrzej Klimczuk (ed.), Economic Foundations for Creative Ageing Policy, Volume Ii: Putting Theory Into Practice. Palgrave-Macmillan.
Aging populations are a major consideration for socio-economic development in the early 21st century. This demographic change is mainly seen as a threat rather than as an opportunity to improve the quality of human life. Aging population is taking place in every continent of the world with Europe in the least favourable situation due to its aging population and reduction in economic competitiveness. Economic Foundations for Creative Aging Policy offers public policy ideas to construct positive answers for ageing populations. This (...)

Sir Richard Phillips was a London-born author and publisher of educational textbooks who used a vast array of pseudonyms, including that of Reverend C. C. Clarke. Phillips' marketing techniques - the systematic borrowing of famous authors' names for his textbooks, along with the multiplication of easy to produce related educational products - were key to his success. No doubt meant as an accessible encyclopaedia, this 40th edition of 1834 - attributed to Phillips himself - is a surprisingly vast and (...)

Dear Carnap, Dear Van: The Quine-Carnap Correspondence and Related Work: Edited and with an Introduction by Richard Creath.Richard Creath (ed.) - 1990 - University of California Press.
Rudolf Carnap and W. V. Quine, two of the twentieth century's most important philosophers, corresponded at length—and over a long period of time—on matters personal, professional, and philosophical. Their friendship encompassed issues and disagreements that go to the heart of contemporary philosophic discussions. Carnap was a founder and leader of the logical positivist school. The younger Quine began as his staunch admirer but diverged from him increasingly over questions in the analysis of meaning and the justification of belief. That they (...)

The De Malo of Thomas Aquinas: With Facing-Page Translation by Richard Regan.Saint Thomas, van Aquino Thomas, Thomas Aquinas & Richard J. Regan - 2001 - Oxford University Press, Usa.
The De Malo represents some of St. Thomas Aquinas' most mature thinking on goodness, badness, and human agency. Together with the second part of the Summa Theologiae, it is one of his most sustained contributions to moral philosophy and theology. Aquinas examines the full range of questions associated with evil: its origin, its nature, its variety, its relation to good, and its compatibility with the existence of an omnipotent, benevolent God. This edition offers the Leonine Commission's authoritative edition of the (...)
