Adaptive Sliding Mode Fixed-Time Tracking Control Based on Fixed-Time Sliding Mode Disturbance Observer with Dead-Zone Input.Hongbin Wang, Bo Su, Yueling Wang & Jing Gao - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-14.
Aiming at the problem of fixed-time trajectory tracking control for high-order dynamic systems with external time-varying disturbance and input dead-zone, an adaptive fixed-time sliding mode control algorithm is proposed by employing a fixed-time sliding mode disturbance observer and high-order fixed-time sliding mode algorithm. Firstly, a FTSMDO is presented for the problem that estimating the compound disturbance is composed of input dead-zone and time-varying external disturbance in the higher-order dynamic system, which cannot be measured accurately. Furthermore, for the case that the (...)

True Grit in Learning Math: The Math Anxiety-Achievement Link Is Mediated by Math-Specific Grit.Youqing Yu, Liyun Hua, Xingwang Feng, Yueru Wang, Zongren Yu, Tong Zi, Yajun Zhao & Jingguang Li - 2021 - Frontiers in Psychology 12.
In this study, we tested a possible mechanism of the association between math anxiety and math achievement: the mediating role of math-specific grit. In Study 1, a sample of 10th grade students completed a battery of personality and attitude questionnaires, and math achievement was indexed by curriculum-based examination scores. Mediation analyses indicated that math-specific grit, but not domain-general grit, mediated the relationship between math anxiety and math achievement. In Study 2, we replicated and extended the above findings with another sample (...)

Is Risk-Taking Propensity Associated with Unethical Behaviors? An Experimental Study.Zhi Xing Xu, Yue Wang, Min Zhu & Hing Keung Ma - 2019 - Ethics and Behavior 29 (7):557-571.
Are risk-takers more likely to engage in unethical behaviors? We examined the relationship between risk-taking propensity and cheating in two experimental studies. In Study 1, we examined the relationship between subjects’ risk-taking propensity and their actual self-serving dishonesty using a gambling-like task. The results suggested that risk-taking propensity, measured using a behavioral approach, was positively correlated with actual self-serving dishonest behavior. In Study 2, we measured participants’ performances using a matrices test and found that the positive correlation still held. We (...)

Impact of Music Education on Mental Health of Higher Education Students: Moderating Role of Emotional Intelligence.Feng Wang, Xiaoning Huang, Sadaf Zeb, Dan Liu & Yue Wang - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
Music education is one of human kind most universal forms of expression and communication, and it can be found in the daily lives of people of all ages and cultures all over the world. As university life is a time when students are exposed to a great deal of stress, it can have a negative impact on their mental health. Therefore, it is critical to intervene at this stage in their life so that they are prepared to deal with the (...)

  9. Asynchronous Stabilization of Nonlinear Markov Jump Singularly Perturbed Systems Via Fuzzy Static Output Feedback Control.Baogang Ding, Tingting Ma, Xiaoxin Feng & Yueying Wang - 2021 - Complexity 2021:1-10.
This study focuses on the static output feedback control of nonlinear Markov jump singularly perturbed systems within the framework of Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy approximation. From a practical point of view, the phenomenon of asynchronous switching between the plant and the controller is considered and characterized by a finite piecewise-homogenous Markov process. Particularly, for facilitating the controller synthesis, the closed-loop system is transformed into a fuzzy Markov jump singularly perturbed descriptor system by adopting descriptor representation. In order to fully accommodate the system (...)

  10. Is the Processing of Chinese Verbal Metaphors Simulated or Abstracted? Evidence From an ERP Study.Ying Li, Xiaoxiao Lu, Yizhen Wang, Hanlin Wang & Yue Wang - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
The theory of embodied semantics holds that verbal metaphors are strongly grounded in sensorimotor experience. Many studies have proven that besides sensorimotor simulation, the comprehension of verbal metaphors also requires semantic abstraction. But the interaction between simulation and abstraction, as well as the time course of metaphorical meaning integration, is not well understood. In the present study, we aimed to investigate whether embodiment or abstraction, or both, is employed in the processing of Chinese verbal metaphor. Participants were asked to read (...)

ObjectiveThis article explores the effect of preoperative health education, in the form of animation videos, on postoperative self-reported pain levels and anxiety in femoral fractures.MethodsNinety cases of femoral fracture were divided at random into the oral instruction group, the recorded video group, and the animation video group, with 30 cases in each group. Sociodemographic data were collected the day before surgery. Health education was then offered in one of three ways: orally, using a recorded video, or using an animation video. (...)

One of the most significant challenges in the application of brain-computer interfaces is the large performance variation, which often occurs over time or across users. Recent evidence suggests that the physiological states may explain this performance variation in BCI, however, the underlying neurophysiological mechanism is unclear. In this study, we conducted a seven-session motor-imagery experiment on 20 healthy subjects to investigate the neurophysiological mechanism on the performance variation. The classification accuracy was calculated offline by common spatial pattern and support vector (...)

The Division of Labour and Its Alien Effects.Yue Jennifer Wang - 2019 - Symposium 23 (2):183-201.
For Marx, capitalism’s division of labour between mental and mate-rial labour is the condition of possibility for the creation of its alien, out of control, and contradictory effects. This paper will analyze the proletarian class, the capitalist class, and the world market qua ef-fects of the division of labour. The division of labour conceptualized fundamentally as a dynamic division between activity and passivity informs the analysis of these contradictory effects. This conceptual-ization of the division of labour provides the framework for (...)

In this study, we sorted out the research hotspots in sports science by bibliometric method and also used social network analysis to explore the relationship between knowledge networks and their scientific performance. We found 38 high-frequency keywords with obvious curricular nature or classical direction of sports science research and 4 high-frequency research groups. The topics of hotspots covered the secondary disciplines of sports science: physical education and training, national traditional sports, sports human science, and sports humanities and sociology. However, sports (...)

Dimensional Evolution of Intelligent Cars Human-Machine Interface Considering Take-Over Performance and Drivers’ Perception on Urban Roads.Hao Yang, Yueran Wang & Ruoyu Jia - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-13.
The study analyzed the drivers’ take-over behaviors in intelligent cars when driving on urban roads and tried to find reasonable dimensions of the human-machine interface. Firstly, the main driving assistance functions in the process of take-over were analyzed based on the entropy theory, and the weight values of each function for the consumer’s purchase intention were calculated. Secondly, we explored the perceived comfortable dimensions of the interactive components under typical interaction modes. By means of experiments using a within-subjects design, the (...)

    A Cross-Cultural Study of Self-Defining Memories in Chinese and American College Students.Yuening Wang & Jefferson A. Singer - 2021 - Frontiers in Psychology 11.
Self-defining memories are touchstones in individuals’ narrative identity. This is the first SDM study to compare college students from the mainland People’s Republic of China to American college students. It examined SDMs, Big Five personality traits, and memory function in 60 students from each country. Participants rated their memories for affect, recall frequency, and importance. Chinese students recalled their most positively rated memories more frequently and with greater importance, while American students did not show this pattern. American students who scored (...)
