The mettle of moral fundamentalism: A reply to Robert Baker.Tom L. Beauchamp - 1998 - Kennedy Institute of Ethics Journal 8 (4):389-401.
In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:The Mettle of Moral Fundamentalism: A Reply to Robert Baker*Tom L. Beauchamp (bio)AbstractThis article is a reply to Robert Baker’s attempt to rebut moral fundamentalism, while grounding international bioethics in a form of contractarianism. Baker is mistaken in several of his interpretations of the alleged moral fundamentalism and findings of the Advisory Committee on Human Radiation Experiments. He also misunderstands moral fundamentalism generally and wrongly categorizes it as morally (...)

  8. Hegel’s System and the Necessity and Intelligibility of Evil, Part I.S. J. W. L. Lacroix - 1971 - Idealistic Studies 1 (1):47-64.
Hegel attempts both to give evil its metaphysical due and to give it intelligibility within a processive idealistic system. To accomplish these ends, he consistently employs the contrast between the natural and the free act of the subject and the contrast between the particular and the universal. He places these contrasts within the situation of an original and presupposed unity of spirit that itself is the ground of the mediation required for thinking freedom, for evil, and for ultimate reconciliation. He (...)

The "anti-Judaist" attitudes of Kant, Hegel and Toynbee are studied. Kant was probably influenced by Jewish reformers of his time. Hegel's attitude, which developed over years, is far more interesting and complex than Toynbee's. But all three must be charged with having been somewhat unscholarly in endowing such attitudes with a systematic significance, and with having tried to force concrete historical facts to fit preconceived schemata.--W. A quantum state model of consciousness.W. L. Miranker - 2002 - Journal of Consciousness Studies 9 (3):3-14.
We introduce a quantum state representation of the information being processed in neuronal structures. The movement of information from one such structure to a second is characterized as a measurement of the first structure by the second. The value of such a measurement is an observable property of matter. The associated collapsed quantum state, a dual encoding of that measurement, is a non-observable property of matter. The quantum measurement collapse process itself is shown to be a form of experience of (...)

  35. Hegel’s System and the Necessity and Intelligibility of Evil, Part II.S. J. W. L. Lacroix - 1971 - Idealistic Studies 1 (2):102-119.
Hegel’s basic position so far on the various meanings of evil as necessary and thereby intelligible directly in the development of spirit might be summed up as follows. Evil is always a necessary moment of instability which gives impetus in the movement from various meanings of particularity to various meanings of universality; from the more abstract expression of potential unity and truth to the more actualized notion and unity.

An Empirical Study of Environmental Awareness and Practices in SMEs.David L. Gadenne, Jessica Kennedy & Catherine McKeiver - 2009 - Journal of Business Ethics 84 (1):45-63.
With increasing awareness of environmental issues, there has been rising demand for environmental-friendly business practices. Prior research has shown that the implementation of environmental management practices is influenced by existing and potential stakeholder groups in the form of external pressures from legislators, environmental groups, financial institutions and suppliers, as well as internally by employees and owner/manager attitudes and knowledge. However, it has been reported that despite business owner/managers having strong “green” attitudes, the level of implementation of environmental-friendly practices is low. (...)
