Renewing the deontology tradition of moral obligation requires, especially in relation to catastrophe and disaster, a broader methodological perspective which would enable deontology to transcend its own limits. The demand for pluralistic research approaches brings with challenging requirements that have to be considered when shaping a hybrid moral theory that incorporates a proactive approach. The personalist approach to the individual, based on the principles of integrity, responsibility and solidarity and seeking the wellbeing of a person, may prove inspirational in shaping (...) such a proactive approach. The paper concerns itself with the moral aspects of the development of science and its consequences for contemporary society. Particular attention is given to ethical reflection on the problem of scientific activities and the role of moral responsibility in science. Scientific responsibility is a problem which, in the context of contemporary scientific discourse, demands a dialogue with ethics. This should not result in burdening science but rather in overcoming the antinomies to which science has, often not on its own, lead (...) itself. To accept responsibility and some degree of critical evaluation in the decision making process is not only the strategy of scientific work but mainly the “human” dimension and mission of science. The issue of the significance and importance of moral theory to moral reasoning and moral decisions also accompanies ethical discourse between ethics and bioethics, especially in recent decades, as the issue itself is of a theoretical nature. The presence and functionality of moral theory when reasoning in dilemma situations does not only provide the apparatus for decision-making, but even a deeper understanding of responsibility and commitment when anticipating and preventing such situations. Ethics, however, is not a matter of science, but (...) primarily it is a matter of a human view, which in real life must be promoted while dealing with real "human" dilemmas and conflicts. Bioethics education encounters all the pitfalls of current theory and practice, science and ethics. The issues of bioethics are a very topical phenomenon of real life, which has brought about complex issues that man faces and whose solutions have neither theoretical nor empirical parallels with the past. This article focuses on the principles of bioethics and modern medical ethics which have increasingly become subject to ethical discourses and, thus, have acquired their topicality and viability. These ethical connections primarily refer to research in the field of biological sciences, biotechnology and medical research whose results have lead to serious consequences in the context of modern society, since they relate to the essence of human life. Contemporary medicine in particular touches on these issues which, by modern science based on (...) positivism and pragmatism, are claimed to be metaphysical, thus not part of science. The issues refer to the relationship between spirit and matter, life and death, the essence of a human being, the meaning of life, etc. hilosophical and existential issues concerning the life of an individual and the entire society are the characteristic feature of current dynamic processes in all social spheres. They have a principally ethical meaning because they continually confront us with ambitions, interests and our own displacement in the world, in which the loss of order makes us search for alternative ways of life. The differences in theoretical and methodological bases as well as the methods of work applied by exact scientists dealing with the human being (biology, medicine, physics, chemistry, etc.) and ethics are often a source of problems and misunderstandings.
