Selection for Representation in Higher-Order Adaptation.Solvi Arnold, Reiji Suzuki & Takaya Arita - 2015 - Minds and Machines 25 (1):73-95.
A theory of the evolution of mind cannot be complete without an explanation of how cognition became representational. Artificial approximations of cognitive evolution do not, in general, produce representational cognition. We take this as an indication that there is a gap in our understanding of what drives evolution towards representational solutions, and propose a theory to fill this gap. We suggest selection for learning and selection for second order learning as the causal factors driving the emergence of innate and acquired (...)

Giovanni of Capestrano's Liturgical Office for the Feast of Saint Bernardino of Siena.Daniele Solvi - 2017 - Franciscan Studies 75:49-71.
In the years following the death of Bernardino of Siena Giovanni of Capestrano was intensely involved with the tasks of his role as the main supporter of the cause of canonization. This project, which finally came to be realized in the Jubilee year of 1450, was close to his heart for both personal reasons and for the legitimating power that a Bernardino who had been proclaimed a saint would have for advancing the interests of the Observant movement. Along with a (...)

Leaping out of our skins: Postmodern considerations in use of an electronic whiteboard to Foster critical engagement in early literacy lessons.Pamela A. Solvie - 2007 - Educational Philosophy and Theory 39 (7):737–754.
Postmodern theory is used to consider literacy instruction with and without an electronic whiteboard to investigate what it means to move beyond using technology to replicate older models of classroom structure that may be historically situated but that also limit or at least, do not support engagement in ways that may be possible through use of new technologies. Using postmodern theory in this regard is a way in which to consider again the thoughts and practices that tend to construct identities (...)

Le vite quattrocentesche di s. Bernardino da Siena. Vol. 3: Il canone agiografico di San Bernardino (post 1460) ed. by Daniele Solvi. [REVIEW]Eszter Konrád - 2019 - Franciscan Studies 77 (1):287-294.
The Sienese Bernardino Albizeschi, the acclaimed Franciscan preacher, theologian and missionary was a key figure in the promulgation of the Observant movement in Central and Northern Italy. His relatively quick canonization only six years after his death was the result of the joint efforts of the Republic of Siena, princes and signori from different parts of Europe and the Franciscans, including Giovanni da Capestrano, general vicar of the Cismontan Observant family, who, among several other tasks related to the canonization, was (...)
