Following the steps of the Ikhwān al-Ṣafāʾ in the Ottoman world. I: Insights from three universal histories.Fatma Sinem Eryılmaz & Godefroid de Callataÿ - 2023 - Journal of Islamic Studies 34 (3):340-370.
This article is a first step in a project to study the influence of the Rasāʾil Ikhwān al-Ṣafāʾ in the Ottoman world. We argue that, at least from the end of the fourteenth century until well into the second half of the sixteenth, the knowledge presented in the encyclopedic Rasāʾil was a conspicuous scholarly source for the Ottoman cultural milieu, especially at the dynastic court, and played a significant role in forming their epistemological perspective. This argument is developed with reference (...)

A Comparative Study of Nonsingular Terminal Sliding Mode and Backstepping Schemes for the Coupled Two-Tank System.Safa Choueikh, Marwen Kermani & Faouzi M’Sahli - 2021 - Complexity 2021:1-18.
This paper presents an implementation of two radically different control schemes for a state-coupled two-tank liquid-level system. This is due to the purpose of transferring theoretical studies to industrial systems. The proposed schemes to be introduced and compared are the nonsingular terminal sliding mode control and the backstepping control. The performances of the developed methods are experimentally tested on a particular class of second-order nonlinear systems. The main purpose of the considered control schemes is to achieve a tracking trajectory for (...)

Heidegger’in Hiçlik Çözümlemesine 'Varlık ve Zaman' Çerçevesinde Bir Bakış.Emin Çelebi - 2016 - Beytulhikme An International Journal of Philosophy 6 (1):47-62.

Parsimony and the triple-system model of concepts.Safa Zaki & Joe Cruz - 2010 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 33 (2-3):230-231.
Machery's dismissive position on parsimony requires that we examine especially carefully the data he provides as evidence for his complex triple-system account. We use the prototype-exemplar debate as an example of empirical findings which may not, in fact, support a multiple-systems account. We discuss the importance of considering complexity in scientific theory.

Ölümde Özdeşliğini Bulan Dasein: 'Moribundus Sum' versus 'Cogito Sum'.Emin Çelebi - 2012 - Beytulhikme An International Journal of Philosophy 2 (2):17-34.

This article documents the increasing participation of poor women in social movements in Latin America, focusing on movements centered around human rights and collective consumption issues, such as the cost of living or the provision of public services. It analyzes the factors that have contributed to the increased participation of poor Latin American women in social movements and why they have chosen the state rather than the workplace as the principal arena of confrontation. Although these movements are undertaken in defense (...)

Local reports from different international societies have considered the achievement of the successful Glocalized architecture model in line with the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Aga Khan Cultural Foundation’s International Program for Islamic Architecture has also prioritized the understanding of the success drivers in architectural projects. This study aimed to detect the potentials of the common global indicators to access qualitative design assessment through analyzing the Aga Khan Award’s reports. Discutimos a importância da compreensão do termo filosófico.

Discussion of the Propounded Identicalness Thesis for Proper Nouns, Physical Situations and Mental Situations in Kripke.Vedat Çelebi̇ - 2017 - Beytulhikme An International Journal of Philosophy 7 (2):51-74.
In this study, Kripke's claim, that within the framework of the possible worlds argument, the identification of mental processes by being reduced to physical events doesn't have an imperative base is addressed. Theories of physicalism and identity aims to explain the mental processes in a thoroughly physical way, thus trying to reduce it to the physical one, through brain events. According to Kripke, there must be an imperativeness for the identification of mental states with physical states. According to him, however, (...)

Body dysmorphic disorder is a DSM-5 psychiatric disorder defined as a preoccupation with one or more perceived defects or flaws in physical appearance that are not observable or appear slight to others. For this evaluation, an online survey was created and sent to cardiologists affiliated with various academic posts in Ankara, Turkey. The survey included ten cases with various ethical considerations selected from our book, “Clinic Ethics with Cases from Cardiology.” Four possible action choices were defined for each case. Participants were asked to choose one or more of these (...)

BackgroundThe advent of learning healthcare systems (LHSs) raises an important implementation challenge concerning how to request and manage consent to support secondary use of data in learning cycles, particularly research activities. Current consent models in Quebec were not established with the context of LHSs in mind and do not support the agility and transparency required to obtain consent from all involved, especially the citizens. Therefore, a new approach to consent is needed. Previous work identified the meta-consent model as a promising (...)
