While representation learning techniques have shown great promise in application to a number of different NLP tasks, they have had little impact on the problem of ontology matching. Unlike past work that has focused on feature engineering, we present a novel representation learning approach that is tailored to the ontology matching task. Our approach is based on embedding ontological terms in a high-dimensional Euclidean space. This embedding is derived on the basis of a novel phrase retrofitting strategy through which semantic (...) similarity information becomes inscribed onto fields of pre-trained word vectors. The resulting framework also incorporates a novel outlier detection mechanism based on a denoising autoencoder that is shown to improve performance. An ontology matching system derived using the proposed framework achieved an F-score of 94% on an alignment scenario involving the Adult Mouse Anatomical Dictionary and the Foundational Model of Anatomy ontology (FMA) as targets. This compares favorably with the best performing systems on the Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative anatomy challenge. We performed additional experiments on aligning FMA to NCI Thesaurus and to SNOMED CT based on a reference alignment extracted from the UMLS Metathesaurus. Our system obtained overall F-scores of 93.2% and 89.2% for these experiments, thus achieving state-of-the-art results. (shrink)

PurposeThe purpose is to study Rogers' Diffusion of Innovations theory in a real‐life context, where it is exposed to the full range of complexities of people residing in a specific area and to briefly describe basically non‐work information needs and sources selected to access it.Design/methodology/approachThe relationships between personality and communication behaviour, socio‐economic characteristics and internet adoption, based on Rogers' theory are investigated.FindingsResults from 150 households suggest younger people and individuals with more formal education have increased information needs and are more (...) familiar with computer and internet usage. A positive association between educational level and innovation adoption, and between the latter and attitude toward science and change, is indicated.Research limitations/implicationsResearch is limited to Xanthi's Old Town. The quantitative methodology utilised does not allow for in‐depth analysis of information behaviour and internet adoption patterns. Measures to assess personality and communication behaviour variables developed need to be further validated. Finally, the research does not examine other variables and the distinction between voluntary and mandatory adoption.Practical implicationsResults suggest benefits of information technology should be advertised through earlier adopters.Originality/valueResearch shows level of internet exposure and practically explores technology usage levels in relation to socio‐economic, personality and communication behaviour variables. The sample offers a detailed examination of internet usage and information needs of individuals residing in a specific area. (shrink)

En el marco de la traducción y estudio de textos de Teodoro Pródromos (s. xii ) con contenido satírico, se presenta aquí el caso de _ Κατὰ φιλοπόρνου γραός _ (140 Hörandner), del que no conocemos versión española. El análisis de la obra, puesta en el contexto de la época y de la tradición, la revela no como un poema lírico satírico sino como una _ satura _ en verso.

El artículo ofrece una traducción española de esta pieza del siglo XII, con variantes propuestas para el texto griego, notas y un estudio que busca caracterizarla, dentro del género dramático, como una ‘tragedia alegórica bizantina’, con rasgos propios y apta para ser representada. This paper offers expects to present a Spanish translation of the Amicitia exulans, a 12th century dramatic piece; and to offer same textual variants, notes and a study that hopes to characterize it, inside the dramatic genre, as (...) a “Byzantine allegoric tragedy”, with typical features and as suitable for a real performance. It is presented here a Spanish version of the Prodromus’ text 146 Hörandner, with footnotes and a study, on the basis of the Migliorini’s edition with some little modifications. It is postulated that this text is a literary mime, which performance was made in a social gathering, a Byzantine θέατρον.

The short catalogue of the manuscripts of the monastery of St. John the Forerunner tu Bazelonos written by Minoïdes Mynas in February 1845 is edited and the entries matched with the only other known catalogue penned by A. Papadopulos-Kerameus in 1909, based on a visit to the monastery in 1884. Two of the manuscripts contained in the catalogue of Mynas can be identified ; the rest is probably lost. An inscription contained in manuscript nr. 39 of the monastery and transcribed (...) by Papadopulos-Kerameus identifies Manuel I. Komnenos as the founder of the convent. (shrink)

Se edita, traduce, anota y comenta un texto conservado en el Ms. _Ambrosianus Graecus_ 855 y se propone que se trata de un mimo breve, representable en ámbito reducido, con intención satírica y que su autoría podría ser adjudicada a Teodoro Pródromos.

It is well known that in early Greek epic old age was something that could be scraped off a man, and it is the purpose of this note to explore the image and to suggest a possible origin. The idea is first attested in a counterfactual conditional sentence in Phoenix's speech atIl.9.445–6: ‘nor even if [a god] himself were to undertake to render me young and flourishing after scraping off old age …’ ; in a description of Medea's magical rejuvenation (...) of Aeson in theNostoi; and in the account of Eos' botched attempt to make Tithonus immortal in theHomeric Hymn to Aphrodite:οὐδ' ἐνόησε μετὰ ϕρεσὶ πότνια Ἠώςἥβην αἰτῆσαι, ξῦσαί τ' ἄπο γῆρας ὀλοιόν.Nor did lady Dawn think in her mind to ask for youth and to scrape off ruinous old age.This language also occurs in Late Antiquity, and Andrew Faulkner in his commentary on theHymn cites Greg. Nanz.Carm.1.2.2.483 in the fourth centurya.d.and the much later Cometas,Anth. Pal.15.37.2. So far as the imagery implicit in these passages is concerned, S. D. Olson writes, ‘old age is imagined as a scurf or patina that can be scoured off a person’. Faulkner, however, prefers a more precise reference: ‘Griffin … relates it to the idea of old age as a skin that can be shed, as that of a snake’, and he helpfully cites Theodoros Prodromos,Carmina historica24.18, ἀπόξυσαι τὸ γῆρας ὥσπερ ὄϕις. Der Roman Hysmine und Hysminias des Eumathios Makrembolites ist zweifellos einer der meistgelesenen Texte dieser Gattung; die handschriftliche Überlieferung, die über vierzig, sich vom 13. bis ins 18. Jahrhundert erstreckenden Träger zählt, zeugt davon. Auch die moderne Forschung hat diesem Umstand Rechnung getragen: Als einziger der byzantinischen Erzähltexte wurde Hysmine und Hysminias Gegenstand mehrerer eingehender literarischer Analysen. Trotzdem verfügte man bis jetzt über keine moderne Ausgabe dieses Bestsellers der erotischen Literatur. Mit der vorliegenden Edition setzte sich also der bekannte klassische (...) Philologe M. M(arcovich), der sich bereits mit Rhodanthe und Dosikles des Theodoros Prodromos an dem byzantinischen Roman herangewagt hatte, das Ziel, ein dringendes Desideratum der Byzantinistik zu erfüllen.
