    Ausgangspunkt der Betrachtung von Aristoteles’ Ansichten zur Ontologie mathematischer Gegenstände ist die Sichtweise seines Lehrers Platon auf die Gegenstände der Mathematik. Dieser war der Ansicht, dass die eigentlichen Gegenstände der mathematischen Wissenschaften Geometrie und Arithmetik sowohl unveränderlich als nicht wahrnehmbar sind, und daher als getrennt von den physikalischen Gegenständen existierend angenommen werden müssen.
