    An analysis of “dignity”.Philip R. S. Johnson - 1998 - Theoretical Medicine and Bioethics 19 (4):337-352.
The word dignity is frequently used both in clinical and philosophical discourse when referring to and describing the ideal conditions of the patient's treatment, particularly the dying patient. An exploration of the variety of meanings associated with the word dignity will note dignity's ambiguous usage and reveal instrumental concepts needed to better understand the discourse of the dying. When applied to a critique of recent and contemporary criticisms of the medical community's handling of the dying, such concepts might provide a (...)

Opening the Black box: Corporate codes of ethics in their organizational context. [REVIEW]Cathy Cassell, Phil Johnson & Ken Smith - 1997 - Journal of Business Ethics 16 (10):1077-1093.
A review of the literature on Corporate Codes of Ethics suggests that whilst there exists an informative body of literature concerning the prevalence of such codes, their design, implementation and promulgation, it is also evident that there is a relative lack of consideration of their impact upon members' everyday organizational behaviour. By drawing upon organizational sociology and psychology this paper constructs a contextualist and interpretive model which seeks to enable an analysis and evaluation of their effects upon individual, group and (...)

    Constituting Business Ethics: A Metatheoretical Exploration.Phil Johnson & Ken Smith - 2002 - Philosophy of Management 2 (2):21-35.
Reviews of business ethics usually differentiate the field in terms of prescription as opposed to description: the application of normative ethical theory verses empirical analysis. Despite recent departures from this dualism, through the elaboration of what has been called postmodern business ethics, the metatheoretical basis of this (increasing) pluralism of business ethics remains opaque. This paper attempts to provide some reflexive clarification and, using codes of ethics as an example, to show that the diversity of business ethics is neither chaotic (...)

Uniformly Accelerated Charge in a Quantum Field: From Radiation Reaction to Unruh Effect. [REVIEW]Philip R. Johnson & B. L. Hu - 2005 - Foundations of Physics 35 (7):1117-1147.
We present a stochastic theory for the nonequilibriurn dynamics of charges moving in a quantum scalar field based on the worldline influence functional and the close-time-path (CTP or in-in) coarse-grained effective action method. We summarize (1) the steps leading to a derivation of a modified Abraham-Lorentz-Dirac equation whose solutions describe a causal semiclassical theory free of runaway solutions and without pre-acceleration patholigies, and (2) the transformation to a stochastic effective action, which generates Abraham-Lorentz-Dirac-Langevin equations depicting the fluctuations of a particle’s (...)
