  2. Existentialist conception of being of Thomas Aquinas on the background of his' De ente el essentia'.P. Fotta - 2005 - Filozofia 60 (7):473-489.
    A small work On being and essence entered the discussion of that time on the concept of being, represented by Aristotle’s works and his Arabic interpreters Avicenna and Averroes . Thomas follows the Aristotelian realistic understanding of reality, but, as for its explanation, he signalizes a new understanding of being. It is clearly his own philosophical way, which enables him to enter independently into the conflict between the Augustinians and Averroists, i.e. against both sides.     The author emphasize the fact, that the world of really existing compound and distinct things leads to the first questions in our spontaneous cognition of the world, such as: "What is it?", "What for?" Spontaneous cognition thus means the primary, direct experience of the real world, which is the basis of common sense.
