In reviewing this book of short reflections by a Jewish philosopher, I shall try to remember his words: “Reviewers. Some forget that they are only heralds and not the hero of the play”. In these aphorisms there is an epigrammatic quality strangely reminiscent of the Wisdom Books of the Old Testament. “Few only live their own life; so many have it lived by others”. The thoughts do not follow each other in logical sequence. The words suddenly “explode into meaning”. They (...) are like sudden lightning flashes illuminating experiences hitherto dark. (shrink)
