Second-Order Differential Equation with Multiple Delays: Oscillation Theorems and Applications.Shyam Sundar Santra, Omar Bazighifan, Hijaz Ahmad & Shao-Wen Yao - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-6.
    Differential equations of second order appear in physical applications such as fluid dynamics, electromagnetism, acoustic vibrations, and quantum mechanics. In this paper, necessary and sufficient conditions are established of the solutions to second-order half-linear delay differential equations of the form ς y u ′ y a ′ + ∑ j = 1 m p j y u c j ϑ j y = 0 for y ≥ y 0, under the assumption ∫ ∞ ς η − 1 / a d (...)

Can a Robot Invigilator Prevent Cheating?Omar Mubin, Massimiliano Cappuccio, Fady Alnajjar, Muneeb Imtiaz Ahmad & Suleman Shahid - 2020 - AI and Society 35 (4):981-989.
One of the open questions in Educational robots is the role a robot should take in the classroom. The current focus in this area is on employing robots as a tool or in an assistive capacity such as the invigilator of an exam. With robots becoming commonplace in the classroom, inquiries will be raised regarding not only their suitability but also their ability to influence and control the morality and behaviour of the students via their presence. Therefore, as a means (...)

Analysis of Coupled System of Implicit Fractional Differential Equations Involving Katugampola–Caputo Fractional Derivative.Manzoor Ahmad, Jiqiang Jiang, Akbar Zada, Syed Omar Shah & Jiafa Xu - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-11.
In this paper, we study the existence and uniqueness of solutions to implicit the coupled fractional differential system with the Katugampola–Caputo fractional derivative. Different fixed-point theorems are used to acquire the required results. Moreover, we derive some sufficient conditions to guarantee that the solutions to our considered system are Hyers–Ulam stable. We also provided an example that explains our results.

Proximate Determinants of Child Mortality in Liberia.Omar B. Ahmad, Isaac W. Eberstein & David F. Sly - 1991 - Journal of Biosocial Science 23 (3):313-326.
The study looks at the effects of maternal sociodemographic characteristics and the quality of the environment on child survival through two intervening variables, breast-feeding and prenatal care. A linear structural equation modelling approach was used to examine infant and child survival based on a weighted sample of 5180 Liberian children aged 0–5 years. The findings confirm previous studies, but also reveal complex relationships of the role of education, maternal age and breast-feeding in enhancing child survival.

A Novel Approach to Identify the Categories of Attributes for the Three-Factor Structure in Customer Satisfaction.Amir Ahmad & Omar Barukab - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-12.
Evaluation of customer satisfaction is an important area of marketing research in which products are defined by attributes that can be grouped into different categories depending on their contribution to customer satisfaction. It is important to identify the category of an attribute so that it can be prioritized by a manager. The Kano model is a well-known method to perform this task for an individual customer. However, it requires filling in a form, which is a difficult and time-consuming exercise. Many (...)

Abdullah Ahmad Badawi: A Malaysian Neo-Conservative?Ahmad Fauzi Abdul Hamid & Muhamad Takiyuddin Ismail - 2012 - Japanese Journal of Political Science 13 (3):379-399.
This article proposes an analysis of changes implemented during Malaysia's Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's administration (20032003), which displayed bias against changes and introduced schemes to justify the systems it upheld. Transmutations wrought during Abdullah's tenure may have been neither substantial nor totalizing, but within the conservative paradigm which had long gripped national politics, Abdullah's deviations were significant nevertheless.

The aim of present paper is to introduce the concept of ‘expressive perception’ in Ernst Cassirer’s philosophical mythology. Having Cited Dorothy Emmet’s methodological objection, the author, by recalling Kantian aspect of Cassirer’s thought and referring to the concept of ‘expressive perception’, would make an attempt to reply on his part: according to Cassirer, this level of perceptive experience is the origin of the mythical form of thinking as a whole and, at the same time, is the original and irreducible altogether. 17. The Foundation of Norms in Islamic Jurisprudence and Theology.Omar Farahat - 2019 - Cambridge University Press.
In this book, Omar Farahat presents a new way of understanding the work of classical Islamic theologians and legal theorists who maintained that divine revelation is necessary for the knowledge of the norms and values of human actions. Through a reconstruction of classical Ashʿarī-Muʿtazilī debates on the nature and implications of divine speech, Farahat argues that the Ashʿarī attachment to revelation was not a purely traditionalist position. Rather, it was a rational philosophical commitment emerging from debates in epistemology and (...)

  20. Another Look at the Modal Collapse Argument.Omar Fakhri - 2021 - European Journal for Philosophy of Religion 13 (1):1-23.
On one classical conception of God, God has no parts, not even metaphysical parts. God is not composed of form and matter, act and potency, and he is not composed of existence and essence. God is absolutely simple. This is the doctrine of Absolute Divine Simplicity. It is claimed that ADS implies a modal collapse, i.e. that God’s creation is absolutely necessary. I argue that a proper way of understanding the modal collapse argument naturally leads the proponent of ADS to (...)

In this paper we introduce the idea of the dual process framework (DPF), an interdisciplinary approach to the study of learning, memory, thinking, and action. Departing from the successful reception of Vaisey (2009), we suggest that intradisciplinary debates in sociology regarding the merits of “dual process” formulations can benefit from a better understanding of the theoretical foundations of these models in cognitive and social psychology. We argue that the key is to distinguish the general DPF from more specific applications to (...)

This paper aims to balance the conceptual reception of Bourdieu's sociology in the United States through a conceptual re-examination of the concept of Habitus. I retrace the intellectual lineage of the Habitus idea, showing it to have roots in Claude Levi-Strauss structural anthropology and in the developmental psychology of Jean Piaget, especially the latter's generalization of the idea of operations from mathematics to the study of practical, bodily-mediated cognition. One important payoff of this exercise is that the common misinterpretation of (...)

In this paper, I critically examine Stephen Turner's critique of practice theory in light of recent neurophysiological discoveries regarding the “mirror neuron system” in the pre-frontal mo-tor cortex of humans and other primates. I argue that two of Turner's strongest objections against the sociological version of the practice-theoretical account, the problem of transmission and the problem of sameness, are substantially undermined when examined from the perspective of re-cently systematized accounts of embodied learning and intersubjective action understanding in-spired by these developments. Re‐Conceptualizing Abstract Conceptualization in Social Theory: The Case of the “Structure” Concept.Omar Lizardo - 2013 - Journal for the Theory of Social Behaviour 43 (2):155-180.
I this paper, I draw on recent research on the radically embodied and perceptual bases of conceptualization in linguistics and cognitive science to develop a new way of reading and evaluating abstract concepts in social theory. I call this approach Sociological Idea Analysis. I argue that, in contrast to the traditional view of abstract concepts, which conceives them as amodal “presuppositions” removed from experience, abstract concepts are irreducibly grounded in experience and partake of non-negotiable perceptual-symbolic features from which a non-propositional (...)

When Must a Patient Seek Healthcare? Bringing the Perspectives of Islamic Jurists and Clinicians Into Dialogue.Omar Qureshi & Aasim I. Padela - 2016 - Zygon 51 (3):592-625.
Muslim physicians and Islamic jurists analyze the moral dimensions of biomedicine using different tools and processes. While the deliberations of these two classes of experts involve judgments about the deliverables of the other's respective fields, Islamic jurists and Muslim physicians rarely engage in discussions about the constructs and epistemic frameworks that motivate their analyses. The lack of dialogue creates gaps in knowledge and leads to imprecise guidance. In order to address these discursive and conceptual gaps we describe the sources of (...)

Political Ontology , Agamben, Dussel... Subcomandante Marcos.Omar Rivera - 2011 - Epoché: A Journal for the History of Philosophy 16 (1):125-138.
This paper articulates a ‘political ontology’ by orienting Agamben’s inquiries toward the autonomy of the constituting power. In relation to Agamben’s thought, it clarifies it by drawing a categorical distinction between zōē and bare life, departs from it by using Agamben’s analysis of potentiality to understand the paralysis of the constituting power and develops it by unfolding the category of ‘exigency.’ The paper also sets into play a brief encounter between political ontology and representative politics.

Kodifikasi Hadis: Menelusuri Fase Penting Sejarah Hadis Nabawi.Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie - 2022 - Refleksi 7 (2).

    Reconceptualizing and Theorizing “Omnivorousness”.Omar Lizardo & Sara Skiles - 2012 - Sociological Theory 30 (4):263-282.
Scores of sociological studies have provided evidence for the association between broad cultural taste, or omnivorousness, and various status characteristics, such as education, occupation, and age. Nevertheless, the literature lacks a consistent theoretical foundation with which to understand and organize these empirical findings. In this article, we offer such a framework, suggesting that a mechanism-based approach is helpful for examination of the origins of the omnivore-univore taste pattern as well as its class-based distribution. We reground the discussion of this phenomenon (...)
