On the Impossibility of a Demonstration of Theological Determinism.Guy Mansini - 2004 - American Catholic Philosophical Quarterly 78 (4):573-580.
The argument according to which there can be no demonstration that divine creative causality precludes human freedom unfolds in the context of St. Thomas’s understanding of choice and of the relation of God to the world. The gist of the argument is that any demonstration of the nature or characteristics of some effect from the cause of that effect supposes some knowledge of the nature ofthe cause. To the contrary, we know nothing of the nature of the divine causality, which (...)

    What do double dissociations prove?Guy C. Orden, Bruce F. Pennington & Gregory O. Stone - 2001 - Cognitive Science 25 (1):111-172.
Brain damage may doubly dissociate cognitive modules, but the practice of revealing dissociations is predicated on modularity being true (T. Shallice, 1988). This article questions the utility of assuming modularity, as it examines a paradigmatic double dissociation of reading modules. Reading modules illustrate two general problems. First, modularity fails to converge on a fixed set of exclusionary criteria that define pure cases. As a consequence, competing modular theories force perennial quests for purer cases, which simply perpetuates growth in the list (...)

A Philosophy of Sacred Nature: Prospects for Ecstatic Naturalism.Robert S. Corrington, Sigridur Gudmarsdottir, Joseph M. Kramp, Wade A. Mitchell, Robert Cummings Neville, Jea Sophia Oh, Iljoon Park, Austin J. Roberts, Wesley J. Wildman, Guy Woodward & Martin O. Yalcin (eds.) - 2014 - Lanham: Lexington Books.
This book introduces Robert Corrington’s “ecstatic naturalism,” a new perspective in understanding “sacred” nature and naturalism, and explores what can be done with this philosophical thought. This is an excellent resource for scholars of Continental philosophy, philosophy of religion, and American pragmatism.

In 1907, Alfred Stieglitz took what was to become one of his signature photographs, The Steerage. Stieglitz stood at the rear of the ocean liner Kaiser Wilhelm II and photographed the decks, first-class passengers above and steerage passengers below, carefully exposing the film to their reflected light. Later, in the darkroom, Stieglitz developed this film and made a number of prints from the resulting negative. The photograph is a familiar one, an enduring piece of social commentary, but what exactly is (...)

A intenção deste artigo é primàriamente exegética.

What is the status of faith-based discourse (and by extension, of the discourse of conviction) in societies characterized by a plurality of moral and religious options? How do the various factions found within a pluralized public setting receive faith-based discourse? Moreover, how does a faith-based speaker square the self-affirmative move towards the other with his or her own particular beliefs? These concerns raise the questions of “what one should do” and “how one should speak” in order to maintain a lively (...)

McCauley’s book Why Religion is Natural and Science is Not (2013), and to other CSR scholars who focus attention on how “cognitively speaking it is religion that is natural and science that is largely unnatural.” Tensions are explored in this paper between our “maturationally natural” religious inclinations to adopt religious ideas and the “unnatural” demands sometimes made upon people, (...)
