Women on Boards and Performance Trade-offs in Social Enterprises: Insights from Microfinance.Moez Bennouri, Anastasia Cozarenco & Samuel Anokye Nyarko - 2023 - Journal of Business Ethics 190 (1):165-198.
Social enterprises combine social and financial goals. Previous studies have theorized the existence of a dual objective and maintain that it can lead to conflicts and create trade-offs. While the literature on trade-offs is extensively developed, empirical evidence is lacking on how the intensity of trade-offs might vary among organizations. We fill the void by investigating the moderating effect of female directorship on the relationship between the social and financial goals of social enterprises. Using data on 1193 microfinance organizations (MFOs) (...)

Positivity of bid-ask spreads and symmetrical monotone risk aversion.Moez Abouda & Alain Chateauneuf - 2002 - Theory and Decision 52 (2):149-170.
A usual argument in finance refers to no arbitrage opportunities for the positivity of the bid-ask spread. Here we follow the decision theory approach and show that if positivity of the bid-ask spread is identified with strong risk aversion for an expected utility market-maker, this is no longer true for a rank-dependent expected utility one. For such a decision-maker only a very weak form of risk aversion is required, a result which seems more in accordance with his actual behavior. We (...)

Putting the Pieces Back Together: Moral Intensity and Its Impact on the Four‐component Model of Morality.Trevor T. Moores, H. Jeff Smith & Moez Limayem - 2018 - Business and Society Review 123 (2):243-268.
A large body of research has examined the relationship between moral intensity (MI) and the four‐component model of morality, typically, by separating MI into its constituent dimensions and regressing them individually against the four‐component model. This approach, however, violates the definition of MI as a single construct. To correct this problem, we develop and test a model of the impact of MI as a single, 6‐item formative construct. We find that when MI is taken into account, moral recognition is not (...)

Probabilistic abstract argumentation: an investigation with Boltzmann machines.Régis Riveret, Dimitrios Korkinof, Moez Draief & Jeremy Pitt - 2015 - Argument and Computation 6 (2):178-218.
Probabilistic argumentation and neuro-argumentative systems offer new computational perspectives for the theory and applications of argumentation, but their principled construction involves two entangled problems. On the one hand, probabilistic argumentation aims at combining the quantitative uncertainty addressed by probability theory with the qualitative uncertainty of argumentation, but probabilistic dependences amongst arguments as well as learning are usually neglected. On the other hand, neuro-argumentative systems offer the opportunity to couple the computational advantages of learning and massive parallel computation from neural networks (...)
