[…] Desde sua mais remota época a filosofia do ocidente se ocupou com a problemática expressa por um par de conceitos: os conceitos da permanência e da mudança. Conceitos opostos, mas que para nós humanos, apenas são concebíveis, psicologicamente captáveis, passíveis apenas de definição por um movimento, que refere um ao outro. De fato: por um lado, aquele que afirma a permanência, suprime no mesmo ato a ideia secular de tempo, a ideia do tempo trifásico: o tempo passado, o tempo (...) presente e o tempo futuro. Pois para o que permanece, não se altera, não há diferença entre o hoje e o amanhã, entre estes e o ontem. A permanência passa, por assim dizer, intocada pelo tempo, tem a propriedade de ignorá-lo de fato. Por outro lado, é impossível concebê-la, isolá-la como conceito, fora de um movimento, que a contrapõe aos processos da mudança. Sejam eles marcados positivamente, os de natureza evolutiva, sejam eles os da degenerescência. Por razões de ordem, tanto técnicas, como de economia de tempo, decidi-me por adotar, em meu texto, a mesma distribuição espacial da matéria, que é a do livro analisado. Com o intuito de evitar repetições enfadonhas e/ou inúteis, trabalhei de acordo com o critério de escolha e análise crítica de casos e/ou aspectos considerados exemplares. There were in the past, just as there are in the present, several diverse attempts to establish a unique theory capable of identifying in all natural languages a similar, invariable basic structure of a logical nature. If such a theory exists, then there must be principles that rule the functioning of these languages and they must have a logical origin. Based on a work by the French linguist, Oswald Ducrot, entitled D’un mauvais usage de la logique , this paper aims (...) to present in a concise manner two of the above mentioned attempts. They were elaborated in diverse epochs and different arguments were put forward to support them. The first attempt was in XVII century France and its theoretic basis was the renowned ‘Port-Royal Logic’. The second attempt is recent and its theoretic support comes from Contemporary Logic.
