Logic of alternative-I.Maiko Yamamori, Takashi Yagisawa, Ryota Akiyoshi, Takuro Onishi & Yasuo Deguchi - 2022 - Asian Journal of Philosophy 1 (2):1-16.
This paper aims to construct a logic of alternative-I that provides a proper conceptual framework for talk of possible-I in decision-making context, and thereby solves what we call the paradox of possible-I. The model of our logic, Alt-I model, is an adaptation of N. Belnap’s branching-time model, and the STIT (see to it that) operator defined on the model serves to represent choices and decisions made by actual and counterfactual agents. We conclude this paper by discussing the application of Alt-I (...)

Is a Penny a Month a Basic Income? A Historiography of the Concept of a Threshold in Basic Income: Winner of the 2021 BIS essay contest.Toru Yamamori - 2022 - Basic Income Studies 17 (1):29-51.
Does a penny per month constitute a Basic Income? Were that penny to be paid individually, universally, and unconditionally, the answer would be ‘yes’, following the definition of Basic Income given by some of its leading advocates, be it organisations like the Basic Income Earth Network or prominent scholars such as Philippe Van Parijs. Some might be puzzled as to how this could be ‘a capitalist road to communism’, or give us ‘freedom as the power to say no’, both of (...)

Business approaches to combating bribery: A study of codes of conduct. [REVIEW]Kathryn Gordon & Maiko Miyake - 2001 - Journal of Business Ethics 34 (3-4):161 - 173.
The question of what firms do internally in the fight against bribery is probably as important to the successful outcome of that fight as formal anti-bribery law and enforcement. This paper looks at corporate approaches to anti-bribery commitment and compliance management using an inventory of 246 codes of conduct. It suggests that, while bribery is often mentioned in the codes of conduct, there is considerable diversity in the language and concepts adopted in anti-bribery commitments. This diversity is a feature of (...)
