  2. El derecho como bien jurídico: una introducción a la filosofía del derecho.Errázuriz Mackenna & Carlos José - 2021 - Pamplona: EUNSA - Ediciones Universidad de Navarra, S.A.. Edited by Petar Popović.

Killings in Context: an Analysis of the News Framing of Femicide.Camelia Bouzerdan & Jenifer Whitten-Woodring - 2018 - Human Rights Review 19 (2):211-228.
While attacks against members of the LGBT community are increasingly covered as hate crimes and are widely viewed as a form of repression, attacks on women are almost never covered as violations of human rights. We propose that until violence against women is recognized as a form of repression and a threat to the physical security of women, we cannot expect much to be done to prevent it. We posit that policies aimed at preventing violence against women are unlikely to (...)

BUdR, probability and cell variants: Towards a molecular understanding of the decision to differentiate.Woodring E. Wright - 1985 - Bioessays 3 (6):245-248.
The mechanism(s) by which the thymidine analogue 5‐bromodeoxyuridine (BUdR) specifically inhibits the expression of differentiated functions is poorly understood, as are the ways in which cells regulate processes exhibiting probabilistic aspects. I have developed a theoretical model for the regulation of the decision of myogenic cells to differentiate that can explain both of the above phenomena. This model provided a strategy for isolating myoblast variants that had amplified the expression of the factors regulating the decision to differentiate. These myoblasts served (...)

Plotinus and the Parmenides.Belford Darrell Jackson - 1967 - Journal of the History of Philosophy 5 (4):315-327.
In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:Plotinus and the Parmenz'des B. DARRELL JACKSON IN 1928 E. R. DODDSARGUED that the first two hypotheses of Plato's Parmenides are the primary source of Plotinus' doctrines of the One and of Nous. I Dodds' main evidence was a list of parallels between the Parmenides and the Enneads? He argued further that the Neoplatonic interpretation of the Parmenides as positive metaphysics was neo-Pythagorean in origin. Several Plotinus scholars have (...)

    Some Notes on Plotinvs.J. H. Sleeman - 1926 - Classical Quarterly 20 (3-4):152-.
Ennead I. 4. 3: Plotinus is arguing that happiness is fullness and completeness of life, and continues, according to the MSS. , οϋτω γρ ν οùδέ έπακτòν τò γαθòν ύπάρΧοι, ούδ' λλο τò ύποκείμενον άλλαΧόθεν γενόμενον παρέξει αύτò ν άγαθεναι. Mr. MacKenna translates the last phrase by ‘a life needing no foreign substance called in from a foreign realm to establish it in good ’; Ficinus by ‘neque aliud quicquam aliunde adueniens efficiet ut subiectum collocetur in bono.’ Ficinus is (...)

In addition to the complete Enneads and Porphyry's Life of Plotinus, this republication of the fourth edition of MacKenna's Plotinus includes a brief foreword from the publisher, extracts from MacKenna's "Explanatory Matter in the First Edition", and two appendices: an essay titled "A Suggestive Outline of Plotinian Metaphysics," and a concor dance of the chronological and systematic orders of Plotinus' works. It also provides, at the conclusion of each treatise, selected brief passages in other translations, including MacKenna's (...)

    Plotinus. [REVIEW]William Meany - 1958 - Philosophical Studies (Dublin) 8:217-219.
It is surprising that Plotinus should have been neglected and underestimated, comparatively speaking, until the nineteenth century. It is more surprising still that the first really successful attempt to translate and interpret the Enneads intelligently should have been made by an Irishman who was neither a professional classical scholar nor philosopher, who had no university degree, who had, in fact, never even crossed the threshold of a university. That this translation should now be reissued after the lapse of nearly thirty (...)
