The subject of the paper is the philosophical aspects of the quality of life. Although in philosophical terminology this notion is not used very often, the question “What is a good happy and high-quality human life?” is one of the earliest in the anthropological philosophy. Philosophical questions concerning this problem might therefore be inspiring, and determining for the theoretical and methodological orientations of the researches in this field. The author approaches the quality of life from three points of view: from (...) the point of view of the ontological difference – as a certain ontological modus, as an ontic experience and as a substantive, existential characteristic of being. According to the author the fundamental element of the quality of life as a whole is the compensation of existential anxiety and focusing on the meaning of life. (shrink)

One of the predominating ethical principles in contemporary western culture is the proclamation of the respect for human dignity. It is emphasized as the universal principle of human relationships, its importance being stressed also in specific relationships concerning human care. The author aims at the conceptualization of the phenomenon of human dignity, seen from two points of view: social and intrasubjective. She defines the concept of dignity on the beckground of various social ideals corresponding various historical periods in western culture. (...) She examnines anthropological and social standards of equality, esteem and respect as the basis od enforcing justice as well as social and individual liberty. On intrasubjective level the stress is put on the selfrespect of the individual as the basis of his or her consciousness of his or her own dignity. (shrink)

The paper examines the dialectics of the sense of life and death. In the analysis three mutually dependent points of view are applied: existential , moral and psychological ones. The author focuses on the individual confronting the impending unescapa- bili_ty of death in an existential condition of a fatal desease. On this practical level it is concerned with the knowing and understanding the proces of dying and its inner dimension as well as its external determination.
