Ethical Fairness and Human Rights: The Treatment of Employees with Psychiatric Disabilities.Lizabeth A. Barclay & Karen S. Markel - 2008 - Journal of Business Ethics 85 (3):333-345.
Extant business research has not addressed the ethical treatment of individuals with psychiatric disabilities. This article will describe previous research on individuals with psychiatric disabilities drawn from rehabilitation, psychological, managerial, legal, as well as related business ethics writings before presenting a framework that illustrates the dynamics of (un)ethical behavior in relation to the employment of such individuals. Individuals with psychiatric disabilities often evoke negative reactions from those in their environment. Lastly, we provide recommendations for how employees and organizations can become (...)

    Revival? Rebirth? Renaissance?Konstanty Gebert - 2020 - Nordisk judaistik/Scandinavian Jewish Studies 31 (1):65-75.
Drawing on personal experience, the author discusses the vicissitudes of Jewish identity formation in the last two decades of Communist Poland and the first two decades which followed. He addresses the role of religion in the Jewish revival which occurred in that period, and sets it against other models of Jewish identity – Zionist, Yiddishist and assimilationist - on one hand, and the twin pressures of anti- and philosemitism in Polish society at large. This discussion is placed within the broader (...)

Principled Resistance: How Teachers Resolve Ethical Dilemmas.Doris A. Santoro & Lizabeth Cain (eds.) - 2018 - Cambridge, Massachusetts: Harvard Education Press.
_Principled Resistance: How Teachers Resolve Ethical Dilemmas_ brings together senior scholars and activist teachers to explore the concept of resistance as a necessary response to mandates that conflict with their understanding of quality teaching. The book provides vivid examples of the pedagogical, professional, and democratic principles undergirding resistance, as well as the distinct perspective of each of its contributors: teachers who reflect on their acts of principled resistance; teacher educators who study teachers and support their professional growth; and historians who (...)

Affective and Normative Motives to Work Overtime in Asian Organizations: Four Cultural Orientations from Confucian Ethics.Jae Hyeung Kang, James G. Matusik & Lizabeth A. Barclay - 2017 - Journal of Business Ethics 140 (1):115-130.
Asian workplaces are often characterized by cultures that require more overtime than other cultures. Although predictors for overtime work have been rigorously studied, it is still meaningful to investigate specific aspects of Eastern cultural values that stem from Confucian ethics and may influence overtime work among Asian employees. We suggest that four major Confucian orientations are positively associated with employees’ affective and normative motives, which in turn affect working overtime. This article extends management literature on the subjects of cultural ethics (...)

    Zettel. [From German] Transl. by G. E. M. Anscombe. Ed. by G[ertrude]E[lizabeth] M[argaret] Anscombe, G[eorg]H[enrik] Von Wright. 2. Ed.Ludwig Wittgenstein, G. E. M. Anscombe & G. H. von Wright - 1981 - Oxford,: Wiley-Blackwell. Edited by G. E. M. Anscombe & G. H. von Wright.
Zettel is a collection of fragments which Wittgenstein cut from various of his typescripts and preserved for future use. More than half of the fragments were written in the years 1946-1948, after the completion of Part I and before the composition of Part II of the Philosophical Investigations. This collection may therefore be regarded as a companion volume to the Investigations, adding to both the scope and the Unity of Wittgenstein′s chef d′oeuvre. The fragments were kept in a box and (...)
