    Contemporary Esotericism.Egil Asprem & Kennet Granholm - 2012 - Routledge.
The study of contemporary esoteric discourse has hitherto been a largely neglected part of the new academic field of Western esotericism. Contemporary Esotericism provides a broad overview and assessment of the complex world of Western esoteric thought today. Combining historiographical analysis with theories and methodologies from the social sciences, the volume explores new problems and offers new possibilities for the study of esoterica. Contemporary Esotericism studies the period since the 1950s but focuses on the last two decades. The wide range (...)

The philosophical basis of the green movement.Michael Benfield, Miriam Kennet, Gale de Oliveira & S. Michelle (eds.) - 2014 - Tidmarsh, Reading: The Green Economics Institute.
After 50 years of materialist culture, people are desperately seeking answers to such questions as the proper sharing of the bounty of the planet and also the human economy. Who should have and who should have not and can inequality ever be justified. Should humans take every last benefit from the planet or do we need other species and do we need to learn to share and to respect nature. We are not alone on this planet but we might be (...)

Ethical Issues in Psychosocial Interventions Research Involving Controls.Lawrence Schneiderman, Barton W. Palmer, Eric Granholm, Dilip V. Jeste & Elyn R. Saks - 2002 - Ethics and Behavior 12 (1):87-101.
Psychiatric research is of critical importance in improving the care of persons with mental illness. Yet it may also raise difficult ethical issues. This article explores those issues in the context of a particular kind of research: psychosocial intervention research with control groups. We discuss 4 broad categories of ethical issues: consent, confidentiality, boundary violations, and risk-benefit issues. We believe that, despite the potential difficulties, psychosocial intervention research is vital and can be accomplished in an ethical manner. Further discussion and (...)

Disassembling the mind? A review of Gary Marcus's Kluge: The haphazard construction of the human mind: Beenfeldt dissassembling the mind?Christian Beenfeldt - 2010 - Think 9 (25):47-56.
The main thesis of Kluge is that the human mind is an evolutionary kluge. As Gary Marcus informs us, the term was popularized by Jackson Granholm's 1962 article ‘How to Design a Kludge’ where it was defined as ‘an ill-assorted collection of poorly matching parts, forming a distressing whole’. A kluge may be clumsy and inelegant but, surprisingly, it works. And the mind, according to Marcus, is ‘[t]he most fantastic kluge of them all’. Unlike the view of the human (...)
