    Researching Sensitive and Emotive Topics: The Participants' Voice.Jacqueline L. Crowther & Mari Lloyd-Williams - 2012 - Research Ethics 8 (4):200-211.
There are different groups in society who may be considered vulnerable, for example those experiencing mental or physical health issues, learning disabilities, prisoners or children. There are, however, other groups in society who may also be regarded as vulnerable, such as those who are bereaved. Vulnerability in relation to the bereaved occurs as a result of experiencing a normal life event, death or a loss. In this situation vulnerability may be transient and, depending upon the management of the bereavement, generally (...)

    Ethics and Budget Allocation Decisions of Municipal Budget Officers.Jacqueline L. Reck - 2000 - Journal of Business Ethics 27 (4):335 - 350.
The purpose of this study is to extend research which has looked at moral judgment. Specifically, the study examines the impact of moral judgment on the budget allocations made by government budget officers. Additionally, and as a result of previous research findings, the study looks at the relationship between political ideology, gender, age, profession and moral judgment. Results support prior research which has found an association between political ideology and moral judgment, and between gender and moral judgment. There was no indication that (...)

Participant Value Perceptions of CR Index Measurement.Jacqueline L. Kirk - 2017 - Proceedings of the International Association for Business and Society 28:118-131.
This paper explores perceptions of value in the evolution of a corporate responsibility index over a 15 year history. Based on documentary evidence and interview data, the paper proposes a ‘linear value journey’ model whereby the perceived value of the tool diminishes over time in line with the passage through internal to external value perceptions. The aim of this paper is to bring this lifecycle process together within the central streams of research in CR Index measurement to bridge the gap (...)

The Relationship Between Ethical Ideology and Ethical Behavior Intentions: An Exploratory Look at Physicians' Responses to Managed Care Dilemmas. [REVIEW]Jacqueline K. Eastman, Kevin L. Eastman & Michael A. Tolson - 2001 - Journal of Business Ethics 31 (3):209 - 224.
Within the past few years, managed care health insurance programs have become commonplace. With managed care programs, however, physicians are facing increasing ethical pressures. This paper examines the relationship between physicians'' behavior intentions with respect to four managed care ethical scenarios and their responses to Forsyth''s (1980) Ethics Position Questionnaire (EPQ). This is one of the first papers to compare this scale to behavioral intentions in the workplace. We provide a literature review of the ethical dilemmas that doctors face under (...)

IntroductionResilience is a factor in how youth respond to adversity. The 88-item Adolescent Resilience Questionnaire is a comprehensive, multi-dimensional self-report measure of resilience developed with Australian youth.MethodsUsing a cross-sectional adolescent population, confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to replicate the original factor structure. Over half of the adolescents were non-white and 9th graders with a mean age of 15.5.ResultsOur exploratory factor analysis shortened the measure for which we conducted the psychometric analyses. The original factor structure was not replicated. The exploratory factor (...)

Children ranging from 3 to 5 years were introduced to two anthropomorphic robots that provided them with information about unfamiliar animals. Children treated the robots as interlocutors. They supplied information to the robots and retained what the robots told them. Children also treated the robots as informants from whom they could seek information. Consistent with studies of children's early sensitivity to an interlocutor's non-verbal signals, children were especially attentive and receptive to whichever robot displayed the greater non-verbal contingency. Such selective (...)

The Ethics of Insurance Professionals: Comparison of Personal Versus Professional Ethics. [REVIEW]Kevin L. Eastman, Jacqueline K. Eastman & Alan D. Eastman - 1996 - Journal of Business Ethics 15 (9):951 - 962.
This paper considers the level of ethics for insurance professionals for professional situations (measured with three insurance scenarios) compared to personal (consumer) situations (measured by Muncy and Vitell's 1992 Consumer Ethics Scale). The results of the study illustrate that there are significant differences in the ethical behavior of insurance professionals in professional versus personal situations. The authors found that insurance professionals are more likely to actively engage in unethical behavior in order to benefit professionally than in a personal setting. In (...)

Encouraging Consumer Charitable Behavior: The Impact of Charitable Motivations, Gratitude, and Materialism.Dora E. Bock, Jacqueline K. Eastman & Kevin L. Eastman - 2018 - Journal of Business Ethics 150 (4):1213-1228.
The United States is one of the most charitable nations, yet comprises some of the most materialistic citizens in the world. Interestingly, little is known about how the consumer trait of materialism, as well as the opposing moral trait of gratitude, influences charitable giving. We address this gap in the literature by theorizing and empirically testing that the effects of these consumer traits on charitable behavior can be explained by diverse motivations. We discuss the theoretical implications, along with implications for (...)

From ‘or’ to ‘And’: L’Écriture Féminine as a Methodological Approach for Fine Art Research.Jacqueline Taylor - 2014 - Arts and Humanities in Higher Education 13 (3):303-311.
This article asserts that the terms ‘practice-led’ and ‘practice-based’ in the context of Art and Design doctoral research are overly simplistic and maintain oppositional thinking by privileging ‘practice’ in generating knowledge. It argues instead for theory and practice as interrelated discourses and art practice research as complex, dialogical and comprising a heterogeneous spatiality. Building on my own ‘writing//painting’ methodological approach which utilises l’écriture féminine, this article highlights the importance of the specificity of individual methodological approaches and the need for a (...)

  31. L'emergenza Dello Spazio-Tempo Nella Gravità Quantistica E Nella Cosmologia Quantistica.Karen Crowther - unknown
Our best description of spacetime is provided by general relativity – yet, this theory is not thought to be fundamental. Instead, it is expected to be replaced by a theory of quantum gravity, which may not feature spacetime fundamentally. Models of quantum cosmology use quantum gravity to describe the ‘beginning’ of spacetime from the ‘big bang’ state, as well as the evolution of the universe at the level of quantum gravity. In this essay, I discuss the conditions under which spacetime (...)

Chief Executive Officers and other organizational leaders can affect how corporate social responsibility initiatives are perceived in their organizations. However, in order to be successful with regard to promoting CSR, leaders need to have strong network competencies and to move beyond charismatic leadership. In this paper we offer a critique of charismatic leadership as it relates to CSR, posit that the intellectual stimulation brought about by transformational leadership is more important in this regard, propose that internal and networking is a (...)
