Limited-Budget Formation Control for High-Order Linear Swarm Systems with Fix Topologies.Hongtao Dang, Yan le WangZhang & Jianye Yang - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-11.
This paper discusses limited-budget time-varying formation design and analysis problems for a high-order linear swarm system with a fixed communication topology. Firstly, the communication topology among agents is modeled as an undirected and connected graph, and a new formation control protocol with an energy integral term is proposed to realize formation control and to guarantee the practical energy assumption is less than the limited energy budget. Then, by the matrix inequality tool, sufficient conditions for limited-budget formation design and analysis are (...)

Seismic Interpretation of Tectonic and Paleogeomorphologic Controls on Sediment Dispersal Patterns in a Continental Rift Basin: A Case Study From the Bohai Bay Basin, China.Hongtao Zhu, Hongliu Zeng, Xianghua Yang & Yawen He - 2013 - Interpretation: SEG 1 (1):T1-T13.
Tectono-paleogeomorphologic frameworks exert a major control on sediment dispersal patterns and types of depositional systems, both of which influence reservoir geometry and quality. In this study, we analyze the framework of the [Formula: see text] Member of the Dongying Formation in QHD29-2 Block, Bohai Bay Basin, China. The framework is constructed through conventional sedimentologic study of single-well facies, cumulative frequency curves, and thin section analysis, seismic stratigraphic interpretation of sectional seismic facies, and seismic sedimentologic mapping through stratal slicing and seismic (...)

Formation Tracking for High-Order Time-Invariant Swarm Systems with Limited Energy and Fixed Topologies.Jianye Yang, Cheng Wang, Hongtao Dang & Xinzhong Han - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-14.
The current paper investigates design and analysis problems of formation tracking for high-order linear time-invariant swarm systems, where communication topologies among agents have leader-following structures and the whole energy supply is limited. Firstly, the communication topology of a swarm system is depicted by a directed graph with a spanning tree, where the communication channels from the leader to followers are directional and the communication channels among followers are bidirectional, and a new formation tracking protocol with an energy integral term and (...)

Influence of Entrepreneurial Orientation on Venture Capitalists' Initial Trust.Hongtao Yang, Lei Zhang, Yenchun Jim Wu, Hangyu Shi & Shuting Xie - 2021 - Frontiers in Psychology 12.
The effectiveness of trust has been extensively investigated in entrepreneurship studies. However, compared to the outcomes of trust, we still lack knowledge about the mechanisms underlying venture capitalists' initial trust in entrepreneurs. Drawing from signal theory and impression management theory, this study explores an impression management motivational explanation for the influencing factors of venture capitalists' initial trust. An empirical test is based on 202 valid questionnaires from venture capitalists, and the results indicate that the signal of five dimensions of entrepreneurial (...)

Synchronization-Based Guaranteed-Performance Formation Design for Swarm Systems.Hongtao Dang, Yichen Du, Lingyun Kong, Hui Yao & Jianxiang Xi - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-13.
Guaranteed-performance formation control for swarm systems with the second-order dynamics is investigated based on the synchronization control strategy. Firstly, a new formation protocol is presented, where the weights of connected edges are adaptively regulated and the performance constraint is imposed. Then, on the basis of the Riccati inequality, sufficient conditions for synchronization-based guaranteed-performance formation are proposed, and an explicit expression of the guaranteed-performance cost is shown, where it is fully distributed to design gain matrices of the formation protocol in the (...)

The paper summarizes the research the author conducted under the individually targetable mass surveillance systems of the P. R. China dictatorial regime with cyber sovereignty claims. In the complexities of cyber security and mass surveillance, the author adopted natural epistemology in counteracting dictatorial power influences for the resilience for democratic formation and for scientific research security from being utilized by autocratic power ambitions. The research generated some qualitative aspects of evidence and analysis on the dictatorial and autocratic power imposition via (...)

This paper investigates the bipartite consensus problem of heterogeneous multiagent systems with diverse input delays. Based on the systems composed of first-order and second-order agents, the novel control protocols are designed. Using frequency-domain analysis and matrix theory, the corresponding upper bounds of the allowable delays are obtained under the undirected topology and directed topology, respectively. Finally, simulation examples are given to verify the theoretical analysis.

    Yang Chu's Discovery of the Body.John Emerson - 1996 - Philosophy East and West 46 (4):533-566.
Yang Chu is a shadowy figure in classical China brought under philosophical scrutiny. By providing a physical definition of human nature, Yang Chu freed the Chinese elite from the public roles and relationships that defined them, making possible new nonpublic, nonritual forms of individual self-awareness and self-cultivation. The Yangists valorized private and family life at the expense of public, court life.

    Yin-Yang and the Heart-Mind.Michael Slote - 2018 - Dao: A Journal of Comparative Philosophy 17 (1):1-11.
The East Asian notion of a heart-mind is arguably more accurate to our psychology than the Western term “mind” and its equivalents are: the latter term implies the possibility of psychological functioning in the absence of all emotion, and it can be shown that that is impossible. But then it turns out that we can update the traditional Chinese notions of yin 陰 and yang 陽 in such a way as to help us philosophically explain how our functioning psychology (...)

Marriage, Health, and Old-Age Support: Risk to Rural Involuntary Bachelors’ Family Development in Contemporary China.Yang Meng, Bo Yang, Shuzhuo Li & Marcus W. Feldman - 2021 - Asian Bioethics Review 13 (1):77-89.
In the traditional system of Chinese families, individuals are embedded in the institution of the family with defined obligations to enhance family development. As a consequence of the male-biased sex ratio at birth in China since the 1980s, an increasing number of surplus rural males have been affected by a marriage squeeze becoming involuntary bachelors. Under China’s universal heterosexual marriage tradition, family development of rural involuntary bachelors has largely been ignored, but in China’s gender-imbalanced society, it is necessary to adopt (...)

    What’s Wrong with Modal Conceptions of Luck and Risk.Di Yang - 2021 - Erkenntnis 86 (4):773-787.
The modal account of luck has become very popular and influential in the past decade. More recently, some of its proponents have also put forth a modal account of risk and argued that we ought to apply it to problems both in and out of philosophy. This paper tries to show that modal conceptions of luck and risk are mistaken.

Career sustainability is a well-researched issue in academics and other sectors. Technology advancements and COVID-19 have jeopardized career sustainability. Numerous studies have explored the influence of individual characteristics on career sustainability, but few have focused on leadership. In addition, cultural factors must be considered because leadership is rooted in culture. In particular, inclusive leadership reflects traditional Chinese culture. Therefore, based on self-determination social exchange theories, we analyzed the effects of inclusive leadership on career sustainability as well as the roles of (...)

Complex energy systems can effectively integrate renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power into the information network and coordinate the operation of renewable energy sources to ensure its reliability. In the voltage source converter-based high voltage direct current system, the traditional vector control strategy faces some challenges, such as difficulty in PI parameters tuning and multiobjective optimizations. To overcome these issues, a finite control set model predictive control-based advanced control strategy is proposed. Based on the discrete mathematical model (...)

Mobile and pervasive computing is one of the recent paradigms available in the area of information technology. The role of pervasive computing is foremost in the field where it provides the ability to distribute computational services to the surroundings where people work and leads to issues such as trust, privacy, and identity. To provide an optimal solution to these generic problems, the proposed research work aims to implement a deep learning-based pervasive computing architecture to address these problems. Long short-term memory (...)

Yet the precise role of such communities and such interaction in the emergence of core properties of language has largely gone uninvestigated in naturally emerging systems, leaving the few existing computational investigations of this issue at an artificial setting. Here, we take a step toward investigating the precise role of community structure in the emergence of linguistic (...)

In various guises (usually referred to as the “basic emotion” or “discrete emotion” approach), scientists and philosophers have long argued that certain categories of emotion are natural kinds. In a recent paper, Colombetti (2009) proposed yet another natural kind account, and in so doing, characterized and critiqued psychological constructionist approaches to emotion, including our own Conceptual Act Model. In this commentary, we briefly address three topics raised by Columbetti. First, we correct several common misperceptions about the discrete emotion approach to (...)

We analyze the geometric foundations of classical Yang-Mills theory by studying the relationships between internal relativity, locality, global/local invariance, and background independence. We argue that internal relativity and background independence are the two independent defining principles of Yang-Mills theory. We show that local gauge invariance -heuristically implemented by means of the gauge argument- is a direct consequence of internal relativity. Finally, we analyze the conceptual meaning of BRST symmetry in terms of the invariance of the gauge fixed theory (...)
