Bullies, Victims, and Animal Abusers: Do They Exhibit Similar Behavioral Difficulties?Cheryl E. Sanders, Lisa N. Dimmer, Bill C. Henry & Christine N. Giuliani - 2013 - Society and Animals 21 (3):225-239.
Two hundred forty-four male undergraduate students enrolled in an introductory psychology class completed surveys assessing animal abuse tendencies, bullying behaviors, and victimization by bullying during their K-12 school experience. Participants also completed the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire, which evaluated their behavioral difficulties. Results revealed a significant relationship between animal abuse and bullying and victimization experiences. Moreover, animal abusers, bullies, and victims of bullying displayed significantly more behavioral problems when compared to nonabusers, nonbullies, and nonvictims. Multivariate analysis revealed a complex pattern (...)

Degrees of Finality and the Highest Good in Aristotle.Henry S. Richardson - 1992 - Journal of the History of Philosophy 30 (3):327-352.
This article develops a uniform interpretation of "pursuit for the sake of an end", explaining what an "unqualified final" end (sought solely for its own sake) offers that a (merely) final one does not and providing an improved account of what Aristotle means by an "ultimate end". This interpretation sheds light on (1) the regress argument at the outset of "N.E." I.2, (2) the way Aristotle argues for the existence of a highest good, (3) the special contribution of "self-sufficiency" (autarkeia) (...)

Structures of Opposition and Comparisons: Boolean and Gradual Cases.Didier Dubois, Henri Prade & Agnès Rico - 2020 - Logica Universalis 14 (1):115-149.
This paper first investigates logical characterizations of different structures of opposition that extend the square of opposition in a way or in another. Blanché’s hexagon of opposition is based on three disjoint sets. There are at least two meaningful cubes of opposition, proposed respectively by two of the authors and by Moretti, and pioneered by philosophers such as J. N. Keynes, W. E. Johnson, for the former, and H. Reichenbach for the latter. These cubes exhibit four and six squares of (...)

    Tradução: A filosofia francesa.

    Process Theology. [REVIEW]E. M. W. - 1972 - Review of Metaphysics 26 (1):155-156.
This anthology is intended primarily to provide students of theology with some of the basic writings of the major thinkers who have contributed to the development of the movement known as "process theology." Because of the content students of philosophy will likewise find it useful. The editor begins the work with an introduction in which he ably traces in broad perspective the various ways in which a mental attitude stressing process is reflected in contemporary culture, philosophy, and theology. The first (...)

  31. Henry of Harclay on Universals.Mark Henninger - 2007 - Documenti E Studi Sulla Tradizione Filosofica Medievale 18:411-452.

    Psychology and Syllogistic Reasoning.N. E. Wetherick - 1989 - Philosophical Psychology 2 (1):111 – 124.
A theory of syllogistic reasoning is proposed, derived from the medieval doctrine of 'distribution of terms'. This doctrine may or may not furnish an adequate ground for the logic of the syllogism but does appear to illuminate the psychological processes involved. Syllogistic thinking is shown to have its origins in the approach and avoidance behaviour of pre-verbal organisms and, in verbal (human) organisms, to bridge the gap between the intuitive grasp shown by most of us of the validity of simple (...)
