Johan Ludvig Heiberg y su diagnóstico de la crisis de la época en la Edad de Oro de Dinamarca.Nassim Bravo - 2022 - Tópicos: Revista de Filosofía 63 (63):131-154.
In this article, I explore Johan Ludvig Heiberg’s diagnosis of the crisis of his age, Golden Age Denmark, in his treatise On the Significance of Philosophy, published in 1833. Althoughin recent times there is a renewed interest in the intellectual scene of Golden Age Denmark, in part due to the current relevancy of a thinker such as Søren Kierkegaard, it is a fact that one of its most important figures, J. L. Heiberg, has been more or less ignored by (...)

"Ludvig Holberg was the foremost representative of the Danish-Norwegian Enlightenment and also a European figure of note. He was an Enlightenment thinker in the conventional sense, with significant works in natural law and history, but also a very important body of moral essays and epistles. He authored several engaging autobiographies and European travelogues; and - not least - a major utopian novel that was a European bestseller, a couple of interesting satires, and a large number of plays, mainly comedies. From Progression to Explosion.Ludvig Sunnemark - 2022 - Theoria 69 (172):60-82.
Inspired by contemporary criticism levelled against evolutionist conceptions of history present within much classical social theory, this article seeks to discuss alternative conceptions of historical time, modernity, and coloniality within the works of Marxist-inspired thinkers who have sought to tackle the problematic aspects of evolutionism and ‘historical progress’ head on – namely, Antonio Gramsci, Walter Benjamin, and Frantz Fanon. After discussing orthodox Marxism’s ambivalent relation to notions of historical necessity and human agency, the article turns to discussing Gramsci’s anti-economistic conception (...)

This article theorizes the European-level political response to the radical right by suggesting a focus on the conceptions of politics, society and of the European Union itself that inform this response. Analyses of the ways in which the political mainstream relates to such movements remain under-theorized and often fall back on understandings of political action in narrow instrumental terms. Instead, this article proposes an approach to this response which emphasizes the process through which shared understanding of the European political project (...)

Money Talks – A Qualitative Analysis of the Organizational Change Connected with the Corporation Formation of a Voluntary Sport Club / Money Talks – Eine Qualitative Analyse des Organisationalen Wandels Und der Korporationsbildung in Einem Freiwilligen Sportverein.Ludvig Vestin, Cecilia Stenling & Josef Fahlén - 2008 - Sport Und Gesellschaft 5 (2):153-177.
Summary The purpose of this study was to illustrate and analyze the organizational change the Swedish voluntary sports club IF Björklöven went through in connection with the corporation formation of its representative team. The study was made with institutional theory as a theoretical frame of reference. Particularly important for the shaping of the study was a theoretical model by Greenwood and Hinings. The data was collected using semi-structured interviews with seven respondents representing different parts of the organization. The results show (...)

Differences Between Women? Intersecting Voices in a Female Narrative.Alice Ludvig - 2006 - European Journal of Women's Studies 13 (3):245-258.
The ‘intersectionality’ approach in feminist theory postulates that differences between women, such as age, ethnicity, class, nationality, sexuality, etc. do intersect. However, intersectionality starts to get blurred when examined concretely because the list of differences is always endless. There is frequently silence about concrete questions such as: who defines when, where and which of these differences are rendered important in particular conceptions, and which are not? This article examines how categories of difference and identity interplay and intersect by analysing a (...)

This article provides an English translation of Johan Ludvig Heiberg’s “Literary Winter Crops” from 1843. The young Kierkegaard cultivated a positive relationship with Heiberg, who was the most powerful cultural figure in Denmark at the time. Heiberg published Kierkegaard’s first articles in his literary journal Kjøbenhavns flyvende Post, and in Kierkegaard’s early works such as From the Papers of One Still Living and The Concept of Irony, there are clear signs that he continued to court Heiberg’s favor. Heiberg’s dismissive (...)

Connectivity is Not Enough. Socially Networked Professional Environments and Epistemic Norms.Frederik Truyen & Filip Buekens - unknown
With the help of key normative concepts borrowed from social epistemology and work on epistemic duties and norms of justification we want to clarify what is at the core of learning mediated through testimony. In socially networked professional contexts, assessment of the epistemic reliability of networked information is important: justification of knowledge acquired via the word of others has an intrinsic social and normative dimension. Whereas the former has been largely taken into account in today’s learning theories based on social (...)

Towards a Simple Mathematical Model for the Legal Concept of Balancing of Interests.Frederike Zufall, Rampei Kimura & Linyu Peng - forthcoming - Artificial Intelligence and Law:1-21.
We propose simple nonlinear mathematical models for the legal concept of balancing of interests. Our aim is to bridge the gap between an abstract formalisation of a balancing decision while assuring consistency and ultimately legal certainty across cases. We focus on the conflict between the rights to privacy and to the protection of personal data in Art. 7 and Art. 8 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights (EUCh) against the right of access to information derived from Art. 11 EUCh. Teaching and Learning the Nature of Technical Artifacts.I. Frederik, W. Sonneveld & M. J. De Vries - unknown
Artifacts are probably our most obvious everyday encounter with technology. Therefore, a good understanding of the nature of technical artifacts is a relevant part of technological literacy. In this article we draw from the philosophy of technology to develop a conceptualization of technical artifacts that can be used for educational purposes. Furthermore we report a small exploratory empirical study to see to what extent teachers’ intuitive ideas about artifacts match with the way philosophers write about the nature of artifacts. Finally, (...)

The Longitudinal Development of Corporate Environmental Strategy in the U.S.Frederik Dahlmann & Stephen Brammer - 2008 - Proceedings of the International Association for Business and Society 19:343-359.
Anecdotal evidence seems to suggest that firms are responding differently to the mounting concerns over environmental degradation and climate change. While a few studies at individual firm level do exist, relatively little is known about the longitudinal development of corporate environmental strategy at the population level of firms. Employing KLD data we explore the evolution of environmental strategy among a sample of S&P500 corporations over the period 1997 to 2006. We theoretically ground our study in Burgelman’s (1991) autonomous and induced (...)

Fairness. Theory and Practice of Distributive Justice.Ludvig Beckman - 2004 - Review of Metaphysics 58 (1):188-190.
There are many ways to distribute burdens and benefits. One of them is to opt for fairness. In this book, Nicolas Rescher purports to explain what this means. The book turns against the tendency to conflate the fairness of a distribution with other valuable properties of them. Frequently a distribution is said to be fair just because it maximizes the satisfaction of preferences or minimizes costs. The point made abundantly clear in this book is that fairness is different. A fair (...)

Supply Chain Management and the Natural Environment: New UK Evidence.Frederik Dahlmann, Stephen Brammer & Andrew Millington - 2007 - Proceedings of the International Association for Business and Society 18:306-311.
In this article we explore the state of current ESCM practices in U.K. companies. We develop a conceptual framework that draws upon the stakeholder,resource-based, and power-dependence perspectives and examine this framework in light of empirical evidence concerning ESCM in 166 UK companies. Using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, our evidence suggests that around 50% of sample companies engage in some form of ESCM activity and that experiencing significant external pressure from customers is an important driver of ESCM.
