The purpose of this paper is to identify the factors that affect the intention to use Big Data Applications in companies. Research into Big Data usage intention and adoption is scarce and much less from the perspective of the use of these techniques in companies. That is why this research focuses on analyzing the adoption of Big Data Applications by companies. Further to a review of the literature, it is proposed to use a UTAUT model as a starting model with (...) the update and incorporation of other variables such as resistance to use and perceived risk, and then to perform a neural network to predict this adoption. With respect to this non-parametric technique, we found that the multilayer perceptron model for the use of Big Data Applications in companies obtains higher AUC values, and a better confusion matrix. This paper is a pioneering study using this hybrid methodology on the intention to use Big Data Applications. The result of this research has important implications for the theory and practice of adopting Big Data Applications. (shrink)
A qualitative study with an exploratory, descriptive and documentary design that was conducted with the objective of identifying the elements to constitute a method for the analysis of accusations of and proceedings for professional ethics infringements. The method is based on underlying elements identified inductively during analysis of professional ethics hearings judged by and filed in the archives of the Regional Nursing Board of Santa Catarina, Brazil, between 1999 and 2007. The strategies developed were based on the results of an (...) analysis of the findings of fact (occurrences/infractions, causes and outcomes) contained in the records of 128 professional ethics hearings and on the structural elements (statements, rules and practices) identified in five example professional ethics cases. The strategies suggested for evaluating accusations of ethics infringements and the procedures involved in deliberating on ethics hearings constitute a generic proposal that will require adaptation to the context of specific professional ethics accusations. Introduction by Ralph McInerny The essays in this volume, indebted in great part to Jacques Maritain and to other Neo-Thomists, represent a contribution to an understanding of beauty and the arts within the Aristotelian-Thomistic tradition. As such they constitute a different voice in present-day discussions on beauty and aesthetics, a voice which nonetheless shares with many of its contemporaries concern over questions such as the relationship between beauty and morality, public funding of the arts and their educational role, objective and (...) universal standards of what is beautiful. In the tradition in which the contributors of this volume reflect, beauty manifests itself in the order of the universe, an order that provides human reason with a window onto the transcendent. For Aristotle and Aquinas the natural order grounds both art and morality, and yet it is this very order which has been called into question by modern science and philosophy. Instead of pointing us to a suprahuman order, the beautiful then points to the order of human freedom and creativity. Reflection on the beautiful since the modern philosopher Immanuel Kant has thus often taken a subjectivistic turn. Because of the importance of beauty and art in human existence, in man's education and life as a moral and political being, an alternative should be sought to any reduction of the beautiful to a purely subjective experience or cultural construct. The Aristotelian-Thomistic tradition, in dialogue with modern and contemporary conceptions of the beautiful, provides us with just that alternative, and thus the essays herein represent a decisive step in the "journey for Thomistic aesthetics." O propósito desta publicação é divulgar as atividades desenvolvidas no âmbito da linha de pesquisa Formação, Trabalho, Instituição, através da qual se articulam várias iniciativas de investigação que vêm sendo realizadas, em especial, junto ao Instituto de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas e Curso de Mestrado em Serviço Social da PUCRS e ainda com a equipe do Projeto Integrado "Urbanidade e Cidadania: processos de formação e instauração de saberes ", que reúne pesquisadores e bolsistas da PUCRS, UNISINOS e UFRGS, com apoio (...) financeiro do CNPq e da F APERGS. Ao oferecer ao público resultados de investigações em andamento, está se apostando na idéia de que a pesquisa e o próprio pesquisador constituem-se antes de tudo como processo e não como algo acabado. Em outras palavras, pretende-se de alguma maneira evidenciar que o conhecimento, o domínio e as competências indispensáveis para atingir descobertas significativas, através da pesquisa, supõem uma formação que, gradativamente, vá instrumentando o futuro profissional com as ferramentas exigidas para o desempenho de tal métier. É dentro desse espírito que neste número incluímos textos elaborados pelos diversos pesquisadores envolvidos, independente do status acadêmico de cada um. Materializa-se, portanto, a concepção de que tanto a pesquisa quanto o pesquisador são produtos de um processo que envolve um trabalho de cunho pedagógico bastante atento e moroso, já que o tipo de cumplicidade que se estabelece entre ambos está intimamente associado com o rigor do conhecimento científico resultante dessa interação. Eis, pois, a principal explicação para os diversos graus de aprimoramento dos textos aqui publicados. Seus autores possuem níveis de capacitação significativamente diferenciados, em relação ao métier de pesquisador: desde o bolsista de iniciação científica ou de aperfeiçoamento, o mestrando e o mestre, até o professor-pesquisador - que desenvolvem suas investigações a partir de certos referenciais propostos pela linha de pesquisa referida - além dos pesquisadores cujos artigos se relacionam com a temática em questão, mesmo que com outras orientações teórico-metodológicas. Tal diferenciação é também reforçada pela inclusão de autores franceses, reconhecidos internacionalmente, cujos textos foram traduzidos para esta publicação, por se constituírem suportes teórico-metodológicos1 importantes para as pesquisas desenvolvidas pelos vários subprojetos vinculados à linha de pesquisa. Confusion has long reigned over the circumstances in which this early work by Sartre was published, as well as its place among other, better-known texts. In 1927, Sartre completed a thesis for his diplôme d’études supérieures, entitled, “L’Image dans la vie psychologique: Role et nature.” In 1936, he submitted a revised and expanded version of that thesis, simply titled L’Image, for publication in a series called Nouvelle Encyclopedie philosophique. That work consisted of a propaedeutic first half, an analysis of various (...) philosophical and psychological theories about the imagination, and a phenomenological second half, an investigation into the various forms of imaginative consciousness. Sartre’s publisher, F. Alcan, rejected the second half and opted to publish only the first half, as L’Imagination (1936). It wasn’t until 1940 that the second half of the text appeared, as L’Imaginaire.Whether or not this has been clear to those who read Sartre in French, those who rely on English tran. (shrink)
We study the intersection number of families of tall ideals. We show that the intersection number of the class of analytic P-ideals is equal to the bounding number ${\mathfrak{b}}$ , the intersection number of the class of all meager ideals is equal to ${\mathfrak{h}}$ and the intersection number of the class of all F σ ideals is between ${\mathfrak{h}}$ and ${\mathfrak{b}}$ , consistently different from both.

Sedamdesetih godina dvadesetog veka Zil Delez, zajedno s Feliksom Gatarijem i Kler Parne, razvija koncepte uredjenja i dijagrama: barem do Hiljadu ravni uredjenje i dijagram - prekrsteni potom u stvarnu i apstraktnu masinu - sacinjavali su istureni teorijski temelj celokupnog Delezovog dela. Ideja dijagrama mnogo duguje Fukou iz doba Nadziranja i kaznjavanja, s kojim Delez u tim godinama, vodi neprekidni teorijski dijalog. Ona za njega predstavlja veliki ulog jer je trebalo misliti mutacije istorijskih struktura izvan vladajucih sema strukturalizma i marksizma. Delez se, kao mislilac buduceg suprotstavlja Fukou, istoricaru-genealogicaru promena: u sredistu te rasprave oko dijagrama pojavljuju se dve razlicite koncepcije mutacije koje Delez nastoji da pomiri u svojoj knjizi o Fukou. The article contains general definition of the phenomenon of hypertext and the Internet in a virtual consciousness philosophy of post-modernism. Describes the phenomenon of hypertext as nonlinear forms of computer and literary texts, its structural units and the main aspects of the organization of hypertext. The article contains the detailed analysis of publications on the issue of hypertext and the history of investigation of this problem. The specific features which allow defining of hypertext as the brand new phenomenon are analyzed (...) in the article. Among them we can mention the following points: - Hypertext is constantly updateable, amendable, editable; - Hypertext has neither any set beginning or the end nor any hierarchical structure; - Hypertext has decentralized nature; - The specific features of hypertext are manifested in text transformations. If an "ordinary" text has linear character, and one can move in its "area" only in the directions limited by one and the same space, then rhizomorphic hypertext opens new "transverse" changes in the text Universe. The way of organizing of text in Internet corresponds to the major ideas of "nomadology" and "Rhizome" developed by Gilles Deleuze and F?lix Guattari in their Capitalism and Schizophrenia project. Postmodernist electronic hypertext is a phenomenon by its nature opposite to modernist printed text. This allows us to consider hypertext as one of the features of coming of "post- Gutenberg era". Hypertext fundamentally changes the way of construction of text environment - to replace the one-dimensional text comes multi-dimensional. In the phenomenon of the global information network, created on the basis of hypertext technology, - intertextual fiber, series of texts, which intercross with other texts, produce new texts. In conclusions of the article - the characterization of hypertext as postmodernist phenomenon is given and the major views of postmodernism which are represented in hypertext - plurality, decentration, fragmentariness, intertextuality - are provided. This work provides an original account of Francis Bacon's conception of natural inquiry. P'erez-Ramos sets Bacon in an epistemological tradition that postulates an intimate relation between objects of cognition and objects of construction, and regards the human knower as, fundamentally, a maker. By exploring the background to this tradition, and contrasting the responses of major philosophers of the 17th century with Bacon's own, the book charts Bacon's contribution to the modern philosophy of science.
