    La recherche récente autour du culte d’Héraclès tend à rejeter l’idée que les ambiguïtés mythiques du personnage se reflétaient dans le rituel. Cet article reprend la question, à la lumière d’études plus larges sur la prétendue opposition « ouranien/chthonien » dans la pratique religieuse des Grecs.
