On the Analysis of Spatial Neural Codes in Taste.Christian H. Lemon - 2008 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 31 (1):84-85.
The two most popular, yet opposing, models of taste processing, the labeled-line (LL) and across-neuron pattern (ANP) theories, are variants of spatial neural coding. Analyses whose outcomes have been argued to support either theory have sometimes glossed over important caveats and considerations that may drastically impact interpretation. Some of these issues are discussed here.

    The Immortal Solipsist.Christian H. Sötemann - 2011 - Think 10 (27):73-76.
Philosophers have been known to sometimes conjure up world-views which seem dazzlingly at odds with our everyday take on the world. Among the more, if not most drastic ???-isms??? to be found in the history of philosophy, then, is the standpoint of solipsism, derived from the Latin words ???solus??? and ???ipse??? . What is that supposed to mean? It adopts a position that only acknowledges the existence of one's very own mind and opposes that there is anything beyond the realm (...)

Shaping Mitotic Chromosomes: From Classical Concepts to Molecular Mechanisms.Marc Kschonsak & Christian H. Haering - 2015 - Bioessays 37 (7):755-766.
How eukaryotic genomes are packaged into compact cylindrical chromosomes in preparation for cell divisions has remained one of the major unsolved questions of cell biology. Novel approaches to study the topology of DNA helices inside the nuclei of intact cells, paired with computational modeling and precise biomechanical measurements of isolated chromosomes, have advanced our understanding of mitotic chromosome architecture. In this Review Essay, we discuss – in light of these recent insights – the role of chromatin architecture and the functions (...)

    Christian Mysticism: A Study in Walter Hilton's The Ladder of Perfection: H. P. OWEN.H. P. Owen - 1971 - Religious Studies 7 (1):31-42.
Many writers often generalise about mysticism without a sufficiently close analysis of texts. Consequently the generalisations are often invalid. My present aim is to analyse one text and, in the light of this analysis, to offer some observations concerning mysticism in general and Christian mysticism in particular.

    Morality and Christian Theism: H. P. OWEN.H. P. Owen - 1984 - Religious Studies 20 (1):5-17.
The relation between morality and religion has often been discussed. However, it is not always recognized that the relation varies greatly according to the variety of religions. I shall here be concerned solely with Christian theism in its traditional form. I take the latter to signify, essentially, belief in a morally perfect Creator who exists in the threefold form of Father, Son and Holy Spirit and who, in the person of the Son, became man in Christ for our salvation. Constructivist Negotiation Ethics.Warren French, Christian Häßlein & Robert van Es - 2002 - Journal of Business Ethics 39 (1-2):83 - 90.
The success of Discourse Ethics is premised on the discovery and use of shared values. If this is true what type of negotiation style, especially when used in an intercultural setting, is best suited to make use of shared values. Research focusing on moral arguments between Germans and Americans uncovered an array of shared values. But the existence of shared values, by itself, was not an adequate predictor of a negotiation's success. What did prove to be a predictor of success (...)

Christianity, Englishness and the Southern English Countryside: A Study of the Work of H.J. Massingham.Clare A. Palmer - 2002 - Social and Cultural Geography 3 (1):25-38.
This paper explores the relationships between Christianity, Englishness, and ideas about the southern English landscape in the writings of the 1930s and 1940s rural commentator, H.J. Massingham. The paper begins by looking in general terms at the conjunction of religious and national identities in the context of national landscapes before moving on to consider in more detail one particular instance of this in the writing of H.J. Massingham. Massingham's understanding of a divine natural order, his construction of a kind of (...)

Christian Philosophy in the Twentieth Century: An Essay in Philosophical Methodology.H. F. - 1972 - Review of Metaphysics 25 (3):555-556.
The argument of this book is that there is a form of Christian philosophy congruent with the contemporary philosophical climate. According to the author, a philosophy is Christian to the extent that it is elaborated within a Christian Weltanschauung, that is, insofar as its spirit and fundamental contents are guided by Christian revelation and bear the impress of Christian redemption. Christian philosophy is not a single system, but rather a tradition which approaches philosophical problems (...)

Germ-Line Genetic Engineering and Moral Diversity: Moral Controversies in a Post-Christian World: H. Tristram Engelhardt, Jr.H. Tristram Engelhardt - 1996 - Social Philosophy and Policy 13 (2):47-62.
The prospect of germ-line genetic engineering, the ability to engineer genetic changes that can be passed on to subsequent generations, raises a wide range of moral and public policy questions. One of the most provocative questions is, simply put: Are there moral reasons that can be articulated in general secular terms for accepting human nature as we find it? Or, at least in terms of general secular moral restraints, may we reshape human nature better to meet our own interests, as (...)
