This article explores gender differences in the religious experiences of 416 Jewish emerging adults . Prior research has indicated that women are more religious than men cross-culturally. The purpose of this study was to investigate if such gender differences remain applicable to Jewish-American emerging adults given both the changing role of women in society and emerging adults’ prolonged search for identity. Findings reveal that most gender differences in the religious values and experiences of Jewish-American emerging adults are statistically insignificant and (...) when significant, are specific to subgroup. Furthermore, it was found that gender analyses of composite scores do not necessarily accurately report the presence or lack thereof of gender differences in religious development. It is therefore suggested that future research may benefit from the analysis of individual religious items and that efforts be made to explore within-group and between-group differences. (shrink)

Pretende-se compreender como práticas artísticas podem ser concebidas de forma a sublinhar as incoerências referentes à intervenção humana no sistema e na atmosfera terrestre. Para tal, este estudo recruta trabalhos de artistas como Alice Miceli, Andrei Tarkovsky e Jacob Kirkegaard, em suas potencialidades de prevenção, educação e crítica (...) em relação a distintas implicações relacionadas ao desastre nuclear de Chernobyl. Assim, é compreendida a possibilidade de trabalhos de arte em atuar como revisita histórica e análise geo-histórica, bem como meios de potencializar críticas às injustiças provocadas pelo Antropoceno.Palavras-chave: Arte contemporânea; Antropoceno; Energia nuclear; Justiça Climática. When experienced in-person, engagement with art has been associated—in a growing body of evidence—with positive outcomes in wellbeing and mental health. This represents an exciting new field for psychology, curation, and health interventions, suggesting a widely-accessible, cost-effective, and non-pharmaceutical means of regulating factors such as mood or anxiety. However, can similar impacts be found with online presentations? If so, this would open up positive outcomes to an even-wider population—a trend accelerating due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Despite its promise, this (...) question, and the underlying mechanisms of art interventions and impacts, has largely not been explored. Participants were asked to engage with one of two online exhibitions from Google Arts and Culture. With just 1–2 min exposure, both improved negative mood, state-anxiety, loneliness, and wellbeing. Stepdown analysis suggested the changes can be explained primarily via negative mood, while improvements in mood correlated with aesthetic appraisals and cognitive-emotional experience of the exhibition. However, no difference was found between exhibitions. We discuss the findings in terms of applications and targets for future research. (shrink)

Jewish tradition has a long-standing commitment to justice, equity and compassion toward society's most vulnerable members, including its working-class. It has produced a substantial literature describing appropriate practice in business relations and the ethics of the marketplace. Less well-known, however, are its prescriptions for employee productivity and accountability. These elements are considered here within the context of contemporary organization, and with particular application to the school of quality management associated with W.
