  2. Representations of the Police in Contemporary Russian Police TV Series The Case of Glukhar’.Arseniy Khitrov - 2016 - Journal of Communication Inquiry 40 (2):179-195.
This article answers the question of how contemporary Russian TV series portray the police. The results derive from a single-case thematic and functionalist study of the popular Russian TV series Glukhar’ (which aired from 2008 to 2011). The show merits special attention because it was on air when the Russian police were undergoing a legitimacy crisis, which lead to the 2009 police reform. The series recognized the crisis and responded to it with a set of justifications. I analyze the show’s (...)

Nazism, Genocide and the Threat of The Global West. Russian Moral Justification of War in Ukraine.Arseniy Kumankov - 2023 - Etikk I Praksis - Nordic Journal of Applied Ethics 1:7-27.
_A few public actions prepared the way for the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the purpose of which was to define a special military operation as forced, necessary and inevitable. The use of armed force against Ukraine was discussed during those public events. The Russian authorities applied many arguments, and a great deal of attention was paid to the moral justification of war. In this article, I consistently analyze three problems: why did Russian officials use moral language to justify the war, (...)

Moral Justification of Humanitarian Intervention in Modern Just War Theory.Arseniy D. Kumankov - 2021 - Russian Journal of Philosophical Sciences 63 (11):58-73.
The article deals with the problem of moral justification of humanitarian intervention by modern just war theorists. At the beginning of the article, we discuss the evolution of the dominant paradigms of the moral justification of war and explain why the theory and practice of humanitarian intervention appears only at the present stage of the development of ethics and the law of war. It is noted that theorization of humanitarian intervention began in the last decades of the 20thcentury. This is (...)

Kantian Project of Perpetual Peace in the Context of Modern Ethical and Political Concepts of War.Arseniy D. Kumankov - 2020 - Russian Journal of Philosophical Sciences 63 (1):85-100.
The article considers the modern meaning of Kant’s doctrine of war. The author examines the context and content of the key provisions of Kant’s concept of perpetual peace. The author also reviews the ideological affinity between Kant and previous authors who proposed to build alliances of states as a means of preventing wars. It is noted that the French revolution and the wars caused by it, the peace treaty between France and Prussia served as the historical background for the conceptualization (...)

Християнство сучасної україни: Погляди через призму етнологічної спадщини а.річинського.Pavlo Yuriyovych Pavlenko - 2006 - Ukrainian Religious Studies 41:67-76.
Arseniy Rychinsky, unfortunately, belongs to the cohort of Ukrainian geniuses whose names have long been erased on the tables of Ukrainian history. Not widely known and therefore not popular in Ukraine, they still are. And it is unlikely that any of them would ever mind if it was already in an independent Ukraine - the one for which such patriots, including Arsen Rychynsky, only dreamed in their prayerful aspirations, the names and affairs of the great Ukrainian patriots, who by their (...)
