Kalām in Western Islamic Theology -The Case of Germany-.Fatma Bayraktar Karahan - 2022 - Kader 20 (2):644-678.
It is known that there are different concentrations of Muslims in European countries. However, Germany has a special importance in these countries due to the numerical excess of Muslims and the existence of our compatriots due to the economic migration from Turkey to Germany that started in the 1960s. For this reason, in our article, the educational activity carried out on Islamic theology, in particular kalam, in the example of Germany will be discussed. Beauty in the eyes of God. Byzantine aesthetics and Basil of caesarea.Anne Karahan - 2012 - Byzantion 82:165-212.
The quintessence of Byzantine faith is the twofold identification of the God-Man. Yet, the image of God Jesus Christ and the transcendent Trinity is a one-God concept. Inevitability, I argue Byzantine aesthetics had to recognize God as both anthropomorphous and divine. Since, omission of God’s divinity would verify God as divisible. In line with apophatic theology, Byzantine aesthetics used non-categorizations and non-identifications, what I denominate meta-images, to teach about God’s divinity and that God is. Since 'holy' equals right manner and (...)

Affirming the Pandemic or Aversion to Life? A Nietzschean Assessment.Gülizar Karahan Balya - 2022 - Kilikya Felsefe Dergisi / Cilicia Journal of Philosophy 9 (1):87-96.
This paper is a reflection on the impacts of the Coronavirus pandemic on social life and draws on Nietzsche’s views on pessimism, will to power and affirmation. The question that lies at its centre is what it means to experience the pandemic with an affirmative or a life-negating attitude. It aims to open up a space for discussion for how the pandemic actually is or can possibly be experienced affirmatively. In order to do so, first of all it provides an (...)

Determination of national midwifery ethical values and ethical codes: In Turkey.Ayla Ergin, Müesser Özcan, Zeynep Acar, Nermin Ersoy & Nazan Karahan - 2013 - Nursing Ethics 20 (7):0969733012474289.
It is important to define and practice ethical rules and codes for professionalisation. Several national and international associations have determined midwifery ethical codes. In Turkey, ethical rules and codes that would facilitate midwifery becoming professionalised have not yet been determined. This study was planned to contribute to the professionalisation of midwifery by determining national ethical values and codes. A total of 1067 Turkish midwives completed the survey. The most prevalent values of Turkish midwives were care for mother–child health, responsibility and (...)
