    The notion of CM-triviality was introduced by Hrushovski, who showed that his new strongly minimal sets have this property. Recently Baudisch has shown that his new ω 1 -categorical group has this property. Here we show that any group of finite Morley rank definable in a CM-trivial theory is nilpotent-by-finite, or equivalently no simple group of finite Morley rank can be definable in a CM-trivial theory.

    In the context of a general framework for belief dynamics which interprets revision as doxastic constraint satisfaction, we discuss a proposal for revising quasi-probabilistic belief measures with finite sets of graded conditionals. The belief states are ranking measures with divisible values (generalizing Spohn’s epistemology), and the conditionals are interpreted as ranking constraints.     We prove that NIP valued fields of positive characteristic are henselian, and we begin to generalize the known results on dp-minimal fields to dp-finite fields. On any unstable dp-finite field K, we define a type-definable group of “infinitesimals,” corresponding to a canonical group topology on (K, +). We reduce the classification of positive characteristic dp-finite fields to the construction of non-trivial Aut(K/A)-invariant valuation rings.
