    Can psychopathic offenders discern moral wrongs? A new look at the moral/conventional distinction.E. Aharoni, W. Sinnott-Armstrong & K. A. Kiehl - 2012 - Journal of Abnormal Psychology 121 (2):484-497..
A prominent view of psychopathic moral reasoning suggests that psychopathic individuals cannot properly distinguish between moral wrongs and other types of wrongs. The present study evaluated this view by examining the extent to which 109 incarcerated offenders with varying degrees of psychopathy could distinguish between moral and conventional transgressions relative to each other and to nonincarcerated healthy controls. Using a modified version of the classic Moral/Conventional Transgressions task that uses a forced-choice format to minimize strategic responding, the present study found (...)

We thank the contributors for their commentaries, which provide a diverse agenda for future study of evolution and (...)

    A local hidden variable theory for the GHZ experiment.Laszlo E. Szabo & Arthur Fine - 2002 - Physics Letters A 295:229–240.
A recent analysis by de Barros and Suppes of experimentally realizable GHZ correlations supports the conclusion that these correlations cannot be explained by introducing local hidden variables. We show, nevertheless, that their analysis does not exclude local hidden variable models in which the inefficiency in the experiment is an effect not only of random errors in the detector equipment, but is also the manifestation of a pre-set, hidden property of the particles ("prism models"). Indeed, we present an explicit prism model (...)

The Language of Thought in Late Medieval Philosophy: Essays in Honor of Claude Panaccio.Jenny E. Pelletier & Magali Roques (eds.) - 2017 - Cham, Switzerland: Springer.
This edited volume presents new lines of research dealing with the language of thought and its philosophical implications in the time of Ockham. It features more than 20 essays that also serve as a tribute to the ground-breaking work of a leading expert in late medieval philosophy: Claude Panaccio. Coverage addresses topics in the philosophy of mind and cognition, concepts, logic and language, action theory, and more. A distinctive feature of this work is that it brings together contributions in both (...)

    Socratic Duplicity: Theaetetus 154b1-156a3.E. S. Haring - 1992 - Review of Metaphysics 45 (3):525 - 542.
THE PASSAGE CITED IN THE TITLE IS commonly said to deal with puzzles or paradoxes about size and other measurable attributes of bodies. Nearly all recent commentators seek to interpret this portion of the dialogue as supporting or otherwise cohering with the Protagorean position Socrates expounds in the Theaetetus. On the present analysis, however, the support or harmony is mere appearance. The puzzles Socrates brings up are indeed associated with entities rejected by Protagoras. Socrates certainly uses the puzzles to foster (...)
