Is it possible to derive the outlines of a thinking of politics from the writings of Gilbert Simondon ? We will sketch an affirmative response by focusing our attention on three aspects of Simondon’s philosophy: 1. The manner in which the concept of Nature or the pre-individual displaces the debates over the relationship between political action, human nature and biological capacity; 2. The importance of the excess of « subject,) over « individual o as the matrix of a politics of (...) the transindividual; 3. The possibility of envisaging the notion of disparation, especially through its Deleuzian reading, as an essential contribution to a political philosophy of difference, that is, to a non-dialectical thinking of construction and conflict. We will end with a consideration of the limits of Simondon, limits in our view concentrated in the equivocal and irenic notion of « culture » or « technical culture. ». (shrink)

Même si Simondon, comme l’a bien relevé Jean-Hugues Barthélémy dans Penser la connaissance et la technique après Simondon, souligne le rôle de stabilisateur du transindividuel dévolu à la technique, il n’analyse pas la dimension intrinsèquement technologique du pré-individuel. C’est pourquoi la religion, que Simondon origine pourtant dans la magie, n’est pas pensée depuis sa constitution profondément technique. Or, cette question revient là où Simondon s’avance du côté de la psychanalyse : la critique simondonienne de cette dernière n’a pas clairement formulé (...) l’objection qu’il faut lui adresser, à savoir qu’elle ne pense pas le rôle de la technique dans l’individuation, c’est-à-dire dans le désir.Even if Simondon, as Jean-Hugues Barthélémy well noted in Penser la connaissance et la technique après Simondon, indeed stresses the stabilization part played by the trans-individual granted as it may be to technique, yet the latter never analyzes the intrinsically technological dimension of the pre-individual. That is why religion, which Simondon originates however amid the magical, is no longer thought since its deeply technical constitution. Now such a question goes back to where Simondon moves towards psychoanalysis : the Simondon criticism of the latter never clearly formulated the objection that should be addressed to it, i.e. never taking into thought the part played by technique in individuation, i.e. within desire. Cutting against the technophobic grain of philosophical traditions inspired by Heidegger and Habermas, Simondon’s book on « The mode of existence of technical objects » invites us to find a positive way beyond the critique of modernity. He offers a framework particularly appropriate for understanding the stakes of the « techno-nature » which has been accepted and appropriated by the hacker ethic, and for inquiring into its corresponding forms of political subjectivity. The unity of producer, technical object and user, which (...) for Simondon is part of the transindividuality of the machine, suggests a fresh treatment of the questions of the expressiveness of code, of open source, and of the constitution of connectionist collectivities. Etude sur la philosophie de la technique et la pensée de l'individuation chez Gilbert Simondon qui interroge les notions de progrès, d'aliénation et de mémoire et leur devenir lors des grands changements de l'histoire des techniques (tradition, révolution industrielle, cybernétique). Met également en lumière son rapport à la psychologie des profondeurs, au sacré et à la technoesthétique.

Pourquoi réunir des textes d'entretiens qui s'étendent presque sur vingt ans? Il arrive que des pourparlers durent si longtemps qu'on ne sait plus s'ils font encore partie de la guerre ou déjà de la paix. Il est vrai que la philosophie ne se sépare pas d'une colère contre l'époque, mais aussi d'une sérénité qu'elle nous assure. La philosophie cependant n'est pas une Puissance. Les religions, les Etats, le capitalisme, la science, le droit, l'opinion, la télévision sont des puissances, mais pas (...) la philosophie. La philosophie peut avoir de grandes batailles intérieures (idéalisme - réalisme etc.) mais ce sont des batailles pour rire. N'étant pas une puissance, la philosophie ne peut pas engager de bataille avec les puissances, elle mène en revanche une guerre sans bataille, une guérilla contre elles. Et elle ne peut pas parler avec elles, elle n'a rien à leur dire, rien à communiquer, et mène seulement des pourparlers. Comme les puissances ne se contentent pas d'être extérieures, mais aussi passent en chacun de nous, c'est chacun de nous qui se trouve sans cesse en pourparlers et en guérilla avec lui-même, grâce à la philosophie.
