This book continues and revises the ideas of justice as fairness that John Rawls presented in _A Theory of Justice_ but changes its philosophical interpretation in a fundamental way. Theodor Adorno (1903-1969) was a cultural philosopher, sociologist, literary critic, and historian of music who, along with Max Horkheimer, Herbert Marcuse, and Erich Fromm, founded the Frankfurt School. Against Epistemology is one of his most important works. |

Jurgen Habermas rarely mentioned China and the developing countries. This book demonstrates that Habermas' theory of modernity and modernization, based on his theory of communicative action, is more relevant to China than any other theory of modernization. Habermas' theory provides a better conceptual basis for a new and rewarding interpretation of the Chinese discourse of modernization that finally led to the idea of socialist modernization with Chinese characteristics. |
