Fidelity and Filial Piety in Taoist Religious Life: A Study Centered on the Debate over "Bowing before the King and Parents" in the Early Tang Period

Abstract

Six years since, Chunghsiao Kimichika of Confucian ethics has long been in the Taoist teachings and the monastic life to be internalized in the integration and expression. Tang Dynasty Taoist monks and nuns to cause the government repeatedly commands thanks to the parents and the king's edict, women are priests and monks and nuns compared the crown, forcing two to teach the parents and the king must worship. Buddhist group set off against this caused many thanks Kimichika petition campaign, succeeded in forcing the government forced the monks to give up two worship Kimichika; Road group approach is relatively silent, but in practice the monastic life in the spirit of imperial policy. Taoist worship Kimichika addressed the issue in the "Na in the words, and sensitive to the line," do not reflect the debate in the Tang Dynasty Taoist self-evident national religious identity
