Fate in the Taoist Practice and the Religious Nature of Taoism: A Focus on Bao Pu Inner Chapters

Abstract

In the modern academic study of Taoist longevity long as the ideal practice is often seen as a secular utilitarian, fairy beliefs consequent is treated as blind worship of disdain for the researchers. However, through the "Inner Chapters Baopuzi" religious phenomenology study, we found that: belief in god can not be established due to attend were convinced of rational argument, but due to the "My fate is in my" ideal of freedom the appeal, and through spiritual practice to achieve the body of god doctrine of cut card. Thus, longevity is not the utilitarian nature of the pursuit, but rather to get rid of the shackles of all tangible and intangible, not to escape the illusion in the hands of the afterlife or salvation of others, but the focus in this world and the present effort. This is the Taoist belief in the true spirit lies
