Abstract

The aim of the paper is to demonstrate the significance of Kant’s conception of imagination and his aesthetics of the sublime to the evolution of the concept of imagination. In the introductory the authoress refers to the discussion between Heidegger and Cassirer about interpretation of Kant’s first Critique which had shown fundamental differences of opinion concerning the status and function importance of theoretical , as well as aesthetic imagination in Kant’s thought. Subsequent discussion of writings by Lyotard, Žižek and Derrida demonstrates how these authors have been inspired by Kantian thought. Key words KANT, SUBLIME, ESTHETICS, IMAGINATION
