Abstract

Based upon Hannah Arendt’s thought, we aim to demonstrate that political action is not the means to an end, but a synonim of "freedom". From this starting point, the author remarks the traditional identity between politics and violence, through a critical approach of the identity - found in the very beginning of phylosophical thought of the question - between freedom and will, that is, the desire to do what we want. In this way, Arendt is able to work two dimentions of political action, the agonistic dimention and the consensual dimention, defining the latter as mutually guaranteed freedom.
