Abstract

Neste trabalho, analiso os argumentos de Gary Francione acerca da necessidade e justiça do reconhecimento, por parte dos humanos, da condição de “sujeitos de direitos” aos grandesprimatas, e a conseqüente atribuição de “personalidade jurídica” aos mesmos. Acresço à argumentação de Francione os conceitos de Peter Singer, que, conforme admite aquele autor, dão sustentação à sua tese. In this work, I analyze Gary Francione’s arguments concerning the need and justice of therecognition of the condition of “subject of rights” to great primates, on the part of thehumans, with the consequent attribution of “juridical personality” to those animals.
